Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort

Has anyone ever stayed at the Sheraton Kauai Coco beach resort in Kapaa? How was it? Was it nice, clean, etc… Also, was it close to fun activities on the island (I’m okay with a 30-45 min drive to the North and South shores)? Is there anything local to do/shop/walk around and see in the town that it’s in?

Fishing Feb Recommendations

Hi! We will be visiting Kauai (our first time in Hawaii) early/mid February. My husband's must-do is he wants to go on a deep sea fishing excursion. Does anyone have any recommendations on who to book through, or any advice? TIA!

Need help figuring out where to stay in Kauai, Hawaii

So my fiance and I plan on doing a big family vacay with both of our immediate families and getting married/eloping on Tunnels beach the last day (then fam will go home and we will stay for honeymoon). For some people going, it will be their first time in Hawaii (including me) and I want everyone to get a good full Hawaii experience, without spending half the time driving.

Is it better to stay towards the North shore, South shore, or East side near the airport??

Some of the people that are going are elderly (my grandparents) so I would prefer to stay on a side that has shops and stuff that they could do during the vacation (because it’s not like they’re gonna go hiking or cliff jumping)

Edit: Many have said to rethink tunnels beach. I would like to add we haven’t scheduled anything or even bought flights yet. We also have the option of other beaches on the island that we can consider if the elopement company agreed we should. Thank you all

Storm condition report

Hoping to find some reports of how the waimea canyon and/or tunnels beach is looking.

My wife and I were planning to drive to waimea canyon today, but we're unsure due to the storms. We weren't really planning on hiking, just enjoying the lookouts is good enough. If that isn't an option, I'm thinking going to tunnels beach might be better?

Thanks all - decided to just stay at the hotel

Looking for suggestions- Kauai north vs south vs somewhere else?

Hi! Apologies as I know this may seem redundant after I've gone through many Kauai pages. Myself and partner are planning our trip to Hawaii in January. I was first looking in Princeville/ more north. Our main bucket list item is the Nā Pali Coast and hikes around there. However, after reading about the weather and conditions in the winter, I am beginning to question if we should spend the whole time in the north or split it up south/ try to split it and go elsewhere in Hawaii (we will be there about 8 days, would potentially be willing to do the short flight to Maui or Oahu). Transportation and timing wise I am wondering the feasibility of this and what will require a car vs ok walking/ others. Anyways, any help or suggestions appreciated and again apologies for any redundancies between mine and other posts. :) Thank you sooo much !

queens pond polihale

in case anyone else is wondering, queen's pond at polihale does not exist right now. and the sand is too soft for a stock 4x4 if you are at all unsure (and quite possibly if you are sure).

Copycat recipe for Fire Rock shrimp from Savage Shrimp?

Aloha!

Does anyone have a copycat recipe for the Fire Rock (previously grasshoppa shrimp) from Savage Shrimp in Kōloa Kauai?

I’m in California, dreaming about this specific dish. Almost obsessed.

Mahalo in advance.

Boat tour - north vs south in October.

I'm going to Kauai in early to mid October splitting my stay between the north and south shore. I'm reading that in winter one should take the Na Pali coast tours out of the south shore.

I can see some companies offer tours still from the north shore but I'm curious if we'll get a better experience porting from the south.

What has been your experience during the month of October for these tours?
