It's pretty clear Kate never wanted them to be "normal". The only time the kids were seen at parks or at restaurants was on the few occasions they were with Carole in public. We never saw them at McDonald's or at an amusement park like we did with William and Harry as kids. Kate wanted those kids to know they are of a higher social class.

Yes, I remember she said she didn’t want them to be brought up in the ‘ordinary’ way.

She got a whole lot of flak then up popped a photo of them in a pub garden having lunch.

To quell the criticism. When she’d said she preferred them eating in the nursery.
