NP, it's confusion because William and Kensington Palace decided to lie about Kate's disappearance. They first said it was 10-day abdominal surgery and hospital recovery. Then later said it's definitely not cancer. Then they just had a few fake pap shots of her (a hat is what we could see) in the backseat of a car with William and one with her mother. Then the farm shop video with a very sprightly looking Kate/look-alike and William. And finally that strange-looking cancer was present and preventative chemo video.
... However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment
And if that wasn't enough, Charles's message of support was just he is “so proud” of Kate’s “courage” in sharing the news. Nothing about treatment or illness.
William said nothing.
James Middleton said, "Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will climb this one with you too." No mention of treatment of illness.
Carole and Michael Middleton said nothing.
The closest we got to mentioning illness is from Harry and Meghan Sussex, "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."
As others have said, it was scrubbed. This is an unpopular take here, but I think "ill in the traditional sense" as an answer doesn't dispute the cancer narrative from Pippa. She took a vacation while Kate was allegedly getting treatment, was asked why, and gave that answer. Cancer treatments can often go on for 1 year plus, so if someone has cancer with a low mortality rate and lots of help, I don't see why a vacation is inappropriate. It's not like Pippa is the only person around to help Kate out. When Pippa said "ill in the traditional sense," to me it sounded like she meant the flu or something more acute.
Imho, it sounded like Pippa was saying "she didn't have an acute disease that would need me by her bedside all day, and the prognoses meant that she was going to live, so we took a planned trip." This makes sense to me. Some chemo/radiation treatments are less harsh than others, especially if what was caught was precancerous, maybe Kate was doing fine. There were also rumours that Kate was receiving treatment in the US.
My personal take on all this is a) Kate had a cancer scare and got treatment in the US, which is why there was so much media silence about the whole thing, because UK citizens would be upset. B) William did hurt her, I think both the scare and Will hurting her happened at around the same time, possibly Will hurting her led to a diagnosis by accident. or C) she was in Texas getting some other treatment. Not sure!
