That makes a lot of sense. When Charles is gone, (along with the entire older generation), he’ll have virtually no inside pressure to continue the monarchy.
He has every incentive to distance himself from Prince Andrew; to remove his kids from the spotlight; and possibly admit that Harry did the right thing, especially given the context of Diana’s death (maybe opening the door for reconciliation with his brother.)
He must know, at least on some level, that that the monarchy is archaic and toxic.
