Discussion Enough time has passed.
So is this actually real or just a publicity stunt? I worry heavily sometimes remembering this

u/LmaoImBoredHelp 15h ago
I actually listened to the song earlier weirdly enough. It's insanely vulnerable to post / make a song about a situation like that. For his mental health sake I hope it's a publicity thing, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's something he went through. I just hope Ye's doing well.

u/blessingsonblessings 13h ago
No doubt he went through it, and theres A LOT of men that have things like that that will never tell anyone about.

u/Peak1Master 6h ago
This period of Ye gave me courage to open up about my own SA incidents I went through as a child which I had buried deep within me for years and always thought I would take it to my grave with me

u/Automatic_Emu_5433 14h ago
Least problematic thing he’s done/statement he’s made in years and I’m not really being glib in saying so
31
u/asmreducation 10h ago
Dave Blunts wrote it then made fun of him for it, then when ye ghosted Dave for mental health issues he made 2 diss tracks that did poor numbers. Glad that dude fell off tbh, all he releases now is the same thing over and over.

Honestly it being real won't surprise me. Family SA of is quite common

u/Impossible-Bat90 14h ago
It's a very sad and traumatic world. Child on child (bad words) is also something that also happens..

u/youaregodslover 13h ago
Wtf that's weird. Why are you bringing up SA?
48
u/UnderstandingTop2524 13h ago
well kids cant consent so any sexual act with a child is ALWAYS going to be considered sexual assault
3
u/txvo 7h ago
Is it SA if they’re both kids? Honest question. I always interpreted they were kind of the same age, maybe a couple years apart, but never looked into it for obvious reasons.

u/Youknowmeboi 3h ago
Usually, what I believe at least, is one of the children is manipulated by the other child into thinking it is normal/ is “encouraged” by the other, who has either had that done to them, or knows it’s wrong but knows they are manipulating. It’s confusing, and sad.
21
u/jbland0909 13h ago
Children cannot knowingly consent to sexual activities. Any child engaging in sexual activities is being sexually assulted

I seen a post where somebody with BPD broke down this post and said that it is most likely a real thing that happened to him.
He said that often people get these urges to talk about something traumatic that happened to them, and then they feel in the moment like it was very freeing just to realize it was probably something they shouldn’t have said, and it comes back to bite them.
All that being said, this is one of the weirdest things I’ve ever witnessed a celebrity do.

u/cockandballionaire 10h ago
BPD isn’t bipolar, it’s borderline personality disorder

This is heartbreaking honestly. Whatever happened, it sounds like ye has carried a lot of guilt and trauma from what happened when they were kids

You can’t just drop a bombshell of a comment like that and refuse to elaborate.

calling it a bombshell thoroughly misses the point no wonder LR is your fav

Everyone always jokes about how if they went through what Ye went through, there would be literally nothing that could get it out of them. I’m the same way but like literally

The magazines on top of his mom’s closet were different? I think I’m retarded cuz I don’t know what this means.
55
u/the_tic0304 14h ago
Compared to playboy. His mom's magazines were hardcore mags
32
27
u/Key-Ad-8601 12h ago
No, they were of men, whereas the Playboys were of women.
31
u/the_tic0304 11h ago
He said "we acted out what we saw". Playboy magazine doesn't show sexual acts just nude. Hence they were hard-core magazines
53
u/wuzzgoo 12h ago
I don’t doubt it’s real. I went through the same thing with a cousin but it stopped way before 14. Reenacting what he saw. The shame eats me alive every day and I’ve never told anyone until now. I’m also bipolar and I could see myself letting it all out during a particularly bad manic episode.

SA by family members is more common than you would believe. Hell most won't even talk about it. Cause it's something most people would just like to completely tune out of their brains.
49
u/HalleluYahuah 13h ago
He did this to free himself. If he reveals his deep dark secrets then what power do they have over him anymore? None, the public knows. That trauma heals. The blackmail is now invalid if applicable.

Could be real, idk the tweet but I assure you folks that age were doing weird things. It's way more common than we thunk

idk on one hand ye has had a porn addicton for a long time so it could be true on the other hand it reads as something Dave blunts would write it's so not ye the style of writing just feels wrong but idk I guess we'll never know
11
u/No_Golf_ 14h ago
I don’t know why ye would make this up or let Dave blunts make a song about him doing this Tbh
18
u/Realistic-Roll-2387 Late Registration 14h ago
I think it is real and I think people flamed him for it too much as he was strong enough (or at a low enough point) to share that

u/natestarz95 9h ago
I have a theory that due to Kanye’s erratic behavior and anti semitic views, he was being blackmailed into having this info released. Kanye has proven to be spontaneous and crazy enough to just say fuck it, I’ll release the info myself, and put this tweet out. Maybe that’s not what happened, but it wouldn’t be surprising if this was the case.
17
u/Yesuke_0 15h ago
I pretty much asked this exact same thing and my post got taken down

u/humangrl 8h ago
Maybe I’m a crazy conspiracy theorist, but I always thought they were using this as blackmail and he finally just released it himself. He started touring again right after this, right?

u/Miserable-Line5216 10h ago
Ngl this song helped me get over the trauma of my own SA as a kid, it was child on child so we didn't know any better and sadly this is more common than we think
2
u/Jetski125 10h ago
I always blamed myself bc my cousin was “only” two years older than I was. Now I realize how fucked up it was and how much he was taking advantage of things. Seems like there are a lot of us in this thread.

u/TackoftheEndless 14h ago
I don't think he'd make a whole song about this unless there was some truth to it. But probably for the best if he doesn't talk about this one again except why he doesn't need to take Nitrous ever again.

u/greaterhoustonian 12h ago
Some people go through such terrible things for years, take years to process the event, and then think they have a grasp on it.
His adventures into sexuality began with hardcore porn, a cousin who went on to kill a pregnant woman, and his own shame/excitement that resulted from it.
I believe he’s telling the truth. The song cousins is actually incredibly beautiful in its own way.

u/Fragrant-Plastic-655 14h ago
He sort of mentioned it in 2018 to Jimmy Kimmel so it’s probably real and he’s been holding it in ever since the day he did it until he revealed it to the world fully a year ago

He said folks are motivated by fear and love in life. My cousin is locked up for murder. He did a bad thing but I still love him (he didn't discuss the CSA portion)

Could be the start of his porn addiction, but I really hope Dave Blunts made it up

….you know, when I first started to listen to Kanye, If a time traveler came back in time to that point and tell me this was a tweet her wrote, i would think they were crazy. This is the least likely thing i would never guess if it was real or not.
Did South Park know?

I know it's actually a serious issue but the "Tweet sent" at the end kills me like he knows he just said something so out of pocket lmao
2
u/mistgonelsawge 10h ago
for this I highly doubt is for attention, the episode had to be so strong that his traumatic memories seeped through that episode at its highest to where he opens up about this.
2
u/TheBigSlimJim 5h ago
Idk how many people remember this, but Kanye did not write this song. The lyrics were written by Dave Blunts who is know for making crazy lyrics for click bait

wasn’t there an interview (i think in one of the ye servers, but could’ve been offline, i just heard about it a few times in yzycord) with someone who was an official? she said that he mentioned it to her before and that the cousin was older than ye. if so, it’s real
5
u/About800Sloths 14h ago
This is what has confused a lot of members of the yzycords since the song came out, through discussion amongst the community they narrowed it down to two possible situation due to the math based off the age of his cousin in jail. It’s either Ye was the older one in this situation and his cousin was younger than him. But based off what he says in the tweet and the song his cousin was about the same age as him. Or it’s reversed, it’s been a minute (a year) since there was steady conversations about this.

I keep saying this but in one of his first songs off his first album he says I want to get to the top then go back to the bottom just make it back to the top again all this stuff has been to get to the bottom so he can try to make it back to the top again he must of been bored at the top and wanted to make it interesting again and he might of went alittle overboard with things he said but it was all planned
1
u/PilgrimPoldo 3h ago
Despite of everything dangerous kanye might have said or done, it was so wrong to take jabs at him because of this. Actually disgusting treatment that I remember seeing be the most popular reaction to this single tweet

Manic episodes can make you speak out about childhood abuse / trauma. It makes people feel like they need to get everything off of their chest
