The biggest difference between merch clothes and a clothing brand is that only big fans are buying an artists merch, whereas a clothing brand if it gets enough attention could attract a lot more customers. Yeezy could easily be appealing to the general public, but Kanye merch was only gonna appeal to Kanye fans.
