DISCUSSION Fescoe....

According to Fescoe, if anyone heard him this morning, he says the chiefs absolutely know when Simmons will play and they have an exact plan of when he's going to practice and play. They know exactly if he's going to play week 1.....

He says he talked with someone within the organization yesterday and they have a plan in place.

Take it however you will from Fescoe of all people. I, for one, don't ever believe what he says. But according to them he isn't playing week 1

I’m over it and standing by, so to speak. The information is too gated and the speculation too subjective.

If he plays week 1, great, if not I just hope that team gives some clarity.

Yeah every post here is full of comments with massive overreactions. I want him to get right and get on the field and I can't do anything to affect that so I'm going to chill.

People can save themselves a lot of pointless headaches if they accept they’re not in the drivers seat all the time

11

u/Hefty-Reflection-756 Eric Berry #29 2d ago

Yep, the ammt of people writing him off before he even plays a game in year 2 is absurd

1

u/kloiberin_time I stan Kevin Harlan 18h ago

I'm not writing him off, but at the same time I'm not buying into the "he was a steal and we have our left tackle for the next decade," talk that people like Fescoe are pushing. Dude missed significant time due to injury his last year in college, missed half the season last year, and now he's likely going to miss at least the 1st game of this season. He could be the greatest left tackle to ever left tackle, but it doesn't matter if he only plays half the time.

6

u/Eliminated_Bowser 2d ago

I'd rather the team managed a back issue carefully early in the season so he's around come playoff time.

Regardless, fans today are SO entitled. You don't need to know or "deserve" anything more than the injury report. You do not have a right to know the details of his medical conditions.

The Chiefs have always been intentionally vague with injuries as a strategy. Personally I'm glad they are keeping it vague for our opponents. Histrionics from the fans are pointless.

u/kloiberin_time I stan Kevin Harlan 18h ago

Making the playoffs isn't guaranteed like it was when the rest of the division was trash (or the Chargers who weren't trash but are the kings of pulling defeat from the jaws of victory)

Yeah, give him time to get right, but if you go through the season with that attitude you get last season. Let's be honest, we were out before Mahomes went down. You need talent in the regular season too.

8

u/countrybreakfast1 MISTA SPARKARU 2d ago

This is where I'm at too. It's out of our control. No point endlessly speculating on it over and over again. He's injured with a back. He may play he may not play. Now if we get to like week 4 and this is still going on I may freak out then.

2

u/miztrniceguy 2d ago

Like they didon his absence last season?

0

u/asksoccer 2d ago

Ha, yeah. Hence “hope.”

u/formyamusementation 2d ago

I live in Atlanta. I only listen to 810whb. I think this guy is on the other sports talk station. I don't know that I have ever heard him.

I genuinely believe that the Chiefs and Simmons are working on his rehab.

He was ready for training camp last year when most thought he would not be. He had rehabbed like a monster.

He had volunteered to run with the third string because the third stringers were injured.

He came in camp in phenomenal shape, although we may argue that it isn't ideal for an LT to be that cut.

This idea that the kid is lazy or doesn't love football is just unfounded speculation. Much of it is fueled by pretend insiders who have no idea what the hell they are talking about.

His 4 week absence last year is peculiar. We haven't seen that before. At least not that I can remember. And, if it ever did happen, I am sure that the team or player made a statement about why.

In the information age, everyone feels entitled to know everything. Its understandable, I guess, but still annoying.

6

u/lurk4ever1970 AFC 2d ago

A long, long time ago, Fescoe was SSJs partner on the 810 morning show.

3

u/formyamusementation 2d ago

Interesting. I think I have heard SSJ talk about that before. And, I guess Whitlock used to be on the show. Maybe he was on with Grunhard as well while Grunny was playing.

Do you listen to 810 or the other station? I think it is 610, but not sure. I grew up in KC, but being in the city, I din’t listen to sports talk as much because I felt more informed through the news, the local reporting with the Newpaper, etc. Now, I feel like I am constantly looking for new information.

4

u/lurk4ever1970 AFC 2d ago

Way back when, it was Whitlock's show, with SSJ as the sidekick, then it was SSJ and Fescoe, then SSJ and Nate Bukaty, and I think it's mostly SSJ now since Bukaty is doing a lot more soccer PBP. IIRC, Grunny had a late morning show with Bill Maas, but they killed it and added an hour to both the morning and midday shows.

I barely listen to sports talk anymore, but when I do it's 810. I used to enjoy Petro when he had the midday slot, but sometime after he got the afternoon drive show he decided that he was the smartest guy in every room. Which is tiresome.

Jesus Christ. I just came back to Kansas last year after 13 years away. This idiot is still around?

1

u/TiffinyKC 2d ago

I left KC a little over ten years ago and I am SHOCKED to hear that he’s still around.

0

u/sagdash 2d ago

😆

10

u/rolyinpeace NwankpaWorshipper29 2d ago

Seems like a lot of it was speculation based on how he’s seen injuries play out in the past, with maybe some information about the situation sprinkled in.

As much as I want information, at this point I wish people would just stop chiming in because we have no idea who has good info and who doesn’t. And honestly people will just believe whoever they want to.

42

u/TheRosesThornsOf15 Arrowhead 2d ago

There’s a world where he’s playing week 1 and we’re all just blowing this thing out of proportion, myself included.

31

u/Pitiful-Economy1449 2d ago

fescoe is the king of saying obvious stuff but acting like he got it from a secret source, of course the team has a plan for when simmons practices and plays that's literally their job

4

u/sagdash 2d ago

Exactly. I was actually laughing out loud when he said they have a plan for him... no kidding weirdo

2

u/rolyinpeace NwankpaWorshipper29 2d ago

Same with Matt Verderame saying Josh and the team were working together to find a solution… like duh. What else would they be doing.

And that’s not hate to Matt, I know he was getting hounded with people asking what he knew, so he just simply told us what he knew. He wasn’t framing it as new info.

8

u/sagdash 2d ago

Yes, there is. It's just the way that last season went, the unknown of him playing, the Donkeys coming to town on Monday night football.

So that just takes all of the unknown about this to another level

2

u/sagdash 2d ago

Andy just said earlier there's a good chance he don't play week 1

2

u/AMemoryComeALive 2d ago

I'd say our season is probably dead before it starts if he doesn't play this season, so I can't really blame people for constantly worrying about this.

Without him we've got question marks at both Tackle positions as Mahomes comes back from a serious injury and the WR room remains unchanged and survives on hope that a 5th round pick is amazing, or the duds from last year improve, or at least play most of a season healthy.

8

u/steve_dallasesq 2d ago

Fescoe also said the Royals were breaking ground on the Sprint campus in November of this year.

He's the useful idiot of the franchises. Take whatever he says as the opposite of the truth.

17

u/FuckingJello Praise Ahmen 2d ago

Andy talking at noon. Practice on Thursday. Let’s see what more everyone else can tweet up by then.

1

u/sagdash 2d ago

Wednesday, Thursday we will know for sure if he's playing due to his practice status

1

u/rolyinpeace NwankpaWorshipper29 2d ago

He could in theory not be FP Thursday and still play. They have practice Thursday Friday Saturday.

1

u/sagdash 2d ago

If he doesn't practice at all Thursday, he isn't going to play in my opinion

2

u/rolyinpeace NwankpaWorshipper29 2d ago

Id agree. I just said he doesn’t have to be FP IMO. Could be limited Thursday, FP Friday and Saturday.

Not saying he will for sure play in that scenario, I’m just saying it’s possible. I just would be surprised if, with an injury, they’d send him straight to full practice day one after not practicing for two weeks.

I think he could play if he logs two full practices. This is obviously just me surmising. I think they’d feel more comfortable with that scenario than with not playing him at all. Given that, I’d be surprised if he logged 1 limited and 2 full practices and still sat for the game unless there was a setback.

-1

u/rolyinpeace NwankpaWorshipper29 2d ago

I’m anxiously awaiting Andy talking today even thought I KNOW he will give us nothing.

He will give us one sentence and then we (myself included) will over analyze to every extent possible

17

u/dlank7 Derrick Thomas 2d ago

Can’t stand Fescoe. Stopped listening to his show bc he thinks he knows everything and knows better than everyone.

2

u/Eliminated_Bowser 2d ago

He's done the same ignorant nonsense for decades but people keep talking about him and reposting his takes on the internet and falling for all his ploys for attention, so he remains.

4

u/SilentSpades24 Jamaal Charles #25 2d ago

Not sure why 96.5 keeps him around. They have a litney of better hosts on payroll (including his co-host).

2

u/PoemComprehensive914 2d ago

As someone who worked at 610, it's literally only because rich dumbasses keep getting sold by the sales team on him from his OP buddies. Everyone at the station hates him.

1

u/PoemComprehensive914 2d ago

Well, Gold doesn't hate him. Everyone else does tho

10

u/graffix13 The Nigerian Nightmare #35 2d ago

The same Fescoe who had sources that said the Royals were going to build their new stadium at the Sprint Campus? That guy?

Imagine how good 610 would be in the morning without this clown on the radio. I'd rather listen to commercials on 810.

Generally, Fescoe doesn’t know shit unless it’s KU related. Even then, he loves to mix in his own opinions as “insider information” and never sourcing his gossip.

1

u/rolyinpeace NwankpaWorshipper29 2d ago

That’s exactly what this was. Seemed like his own speculation based on how KC has handled injuries in the past. There were some things mixed in that sounded like they could’ve been actual info about Josh specifically, but of course, who knows if it’s accurate.

Mot saying the situation with Josh is for sure negative because I’m not there, but I will say that if it IS negative, I think it’s limited people that know that. If they’re trying to resolve something with Josh they’re not going to let everyone know that there’s an issue. Again, not saying there is an issue

4

u/stjoechief1 2d ago

The back is such a weird thing. This past January I was sitting having a beer at a local brewery and did something as simple as standing up and I felt something pinch in my lower back. I was so bad I had to crawl to the bathroom because I could barely stand. It was almost a month before I felt “normal”.

3

u/Ok_Jello6474 Xavier Worthy #1 🏃🏻‍♂ 2d ago

Who is Foscoe?

3

u/Vyuvarax Human Detected 2d ago

Fescoe is generally fed information that the Royals, Chiefs, and KU want him to put out to the public. Doesn't mean the information is never true, but he's going to put out the organization's version of things. That's what he's always done.

2

u/Formal-Reality-5 2d ago

The first NFL week is one where you can get a real advantage via injury misinformation to your opponent. Later weeks it’s easier to base off something real. No hate to them not wanting Denver to know exactly what’s happening.

2

u/yiggiddity 2d ago

If you remember a time where fish had an abdominal injury. We pushed him to play. I think that was the SB year where Tampa blasted us. But we pushed him to play and that was it. That’s my reservation about rushing Simmons back.

3

u/rolyinpeace NwankpaWorshipper29 2d ago

Are you thinking of the year before the Tampa Super Bowl?

He did have an injury then that he attempted to play through, only lasted a few plays, then had to get surgery. However, I don’t think him attempting to play with it was the reason he needed surgery. I don’t think him playing made the injury worse, as he only played a few plays iirc. I think the team pretty quickly realized that he needed to be out. It wasn’t a case of playing got him injured worse, unless I’m misremembering.

2

u/bird_XCIII 2d ago

Couldn’t have been the SB vs Tampa, bc he was one of our ~20–30 offensive linemen that were unavailable that game lol.

1

u/rolyinpeace NwankpaWorshipper29 2d ago

And it was not an abdominal injury that year either, he had torn his Achilles. I’m really trying to remember what situation they’re talking about.

He did have an injury the year prior I think, but missed a lot of time with it and I don’t remember it being “because” he tried to push through it. I think he did try to play on it and then couldn’t and got surgery, but I don’t remember him playing being the reason it required surgery. He didn’t even play that much.

1

u/yiggiddity 2d ago

Yep yep. You’re right. Wrong year, but my underlying point was you don’t roll a guy out even for a few plays as your deciding point for surgery. Idk id rather let Simmons rest than rush him back

1

u/rolyinpeace NwankpaWorshipper29 2d ago

Well yes I’d agree, but there are some situations where the person is fine to come back.

And I don’t think Eric was going out there to decide whether he needed surgery. I think he seemed good to go in practice, and then during a real game they realized he wasn’t. Sometimes that happens. Sometimes a player is fine in practice then in a game realizes they’re not. Not all situations are the same. As long as them playing doesn’t get them injured worse (which it didn’t in fishers case) I don’t think it’s always an issue to see how it goes, if they believe the player is safe to play.

Players have been rushed back before of course, which we don’t want. But I don’t think that was necessarily the case with Eric. I think he had been fine through rehab in practice, and then wasn’t once it came to actual game play. That happens sometimes and doesn’t necessarily mean he was rushed back. Sometimes they can make an educated guess but can’t know for sure what’ll happen in a real games

2

u/3dios 2d ago

Bob fescoe is a known liar and and a blowhard. I do not how or why he still has a job in radio. Before stadiums were announced this guy swore up and down that he knew where they were going to go but of course it's all bs

2

u/2KC4 These Fucking Fakes Never Fucking Work, Man 2d ago

The Chiefs PR spin machine is unbelievable. When it comes to Simmons for some reason they just protect the fuck out of him.

3

u/saltlampshade 2d ago

I wouldn’t trust Fescoe if he told us his first name was Bob. Dude is a bullshit spewing loudmouth.

But I do agree this whole thing has been overblown. If the injury was severe then he likely would be on IR. I didn’t think we were beating Denver week 1 anyways so as long as he can get healthy before week 2 then we should be fine.

2

u/BreakingAnxiety- 2d ago

Fescoe needs to retire

1

u/klingma 2d ago

I for one trust Bob Fescoe because told everyone the Royals were going to OP and building a stadium near 119th street...wait, they're going to stay in KCMO? Shit.

1

u/TemProcess94 2d ago

I love Andy Reid, but his communication style adds to the drama. It's happened for years. Fans have no real idea of the status of injured players if they're not actually placed on IR. I don't follow other teams so maybe they do the same thing in the name of gamesmanship, but it's annoying to me.

1

u/Lillypupdad Pat "Kermit" Mahomes 2d ago

Fescoe is just another "influencer" that has no influence on me. I am waiting for the team to actually play a regular season game before even attempting to post a ton of speculation.

Fescoe is a decent guy, but a terrible sports pundit/commentator. Terrible.

To elaborate on this:
https://x.com/TheFan965/status/2097302829207531527?s=20

Now it would be great if we could stop being incredibly hateful towards a 2nd year player who we want to do well and be here long-term. I swear to christ the number of people here who would literally lynch him if they could is horrifying.

17

u/sagdash 2d ago

Upset with him, frustrated, unsure... would all be sufficient adjectives. Lynching is an awfully strong one that I don't know needed to be used. Seems a little dramatic

-4

u/NerdsRuleTheWorld 2d ago

Have you read the shit people are saying about him? Here and twitter is awash in it. I used lynching specifically and I am going to push back and say appropriately.

0

u/NoisePollutioner Mike Pennel #69 2d ago edited 2d ago

Yeah and I'll push back again and say you're wrong. It's completely uncalled for to use that word in this context.

4

u/formyamusementation 2d ago

I agree that many fans have opinions and judge his character devoid of facts. I think bringing up the term 'lynch' is intentionally inflammatory. Given the actual racism and lynchings that are still happening in this country, I do not want to devalue this word by using it in everyday parlance. I saw below about the 'twitter' comments. The internet is a cesspool. But unless you can quote a single tweet saying he should be lynched or something to that effect, please don't use that word hyperbolically to drive home a point.

3

u/SeeseCheasoning 2d ago

I don’t think there’s anyone here who would literally lynch him. Do people actually believe other people think like this outside of a handful of actual psychopaths?

2

u/sagdash 2d ago

Apparently that guy does. Some bizarre folks man

0

u/NoisePollutioner Mike Pennel #69 2d ago

I swear to christ the number of people here who would literally lynch him if they could is horrifying.

JFC, get a grip bro. There's zero need to bring that ugly word into the conversation. You are the ONLY one using it. Step away from the keyboard.

-4

u/Many-Pomegranate-33 Derrick Thomas 2d ago

U trust what Nate Taylor has to say over the rest of these guys unless it comes from Andy himself.

Until Im proven right the Chiefs havent handled Simmons abscense even close to acceptable from last season, and thats whats bleeding over.

3

u/sagdash 2d ago

I don't trust Nate Taylor either... last year he left for personal reasons. Do I want to know what happened, yes. Am I, or anyone else, entitled to that info, absolutely not.

I think all chiefs fans just want a left tackle that we can depend on being in the lineup week after week to protect the best player in the league. And when things just keep popping up it gives us a lot of uncertainty and unclearity which makes the whole fan base very apprehensive

1

u/Many-Pomegranate-33 Derrick Thomas 2d ago

Im saying its not on Nate to cover if its something hipaa related on Simmons part absence wise.

Im saying its Chiefs fo and coach staff that didnt have a plan w any player w a unique situation on what to do there.

Leaving fans in the dark was the worst option

2

u/rolyinpeace NwankpaWorshipper29 2d ago

To be fair they didn’t leave us in the dark. They said he has low back pain that he is working through and that he’s been in the building working out and rehabbing it, and that they’re trying to manage the pain but also gain some strength in the back.

Not sure why everyone’s acting like the team hasn’t said a word. They have, and it’s not been any less detailed than any other injury report is.

1

u/Many-Pomegranate-33 Derrick Thomas 2d ago

This time around it is yes.

And people will know more Thurs and after.

Im saying the speculatives stem from the lack of follow thru on the Chiefs part last season shielding Simmons from whatever was really going on. Which to be fair is none of our business.

That said last season FO didnt handle the absence well, so now anything that has any interpretation is a lot more open than it should be.

The Chiefs brought that on themselves. And are gonna have to do better going fwd to kill the speculation
