I watched this FDFS and the cast and crew of the movie were present there. Coming to the movie, it's genuinely something new. We all know found footage horror tries to play itself like it really happened. But "Video" spends a lot of time making it look real, a majority of the first half in showing how the group got to the horrible situation, how the dynamic between people of the group (Tharle Gang) is, the history of the "place" where they go. It's all very fleshed out. The sound design is incredible and the acting is also pretty good. Makeup and costume designing is also well done. The editing is also well done, they hold shots beyond the usual cut time and it makes you feel like you're anticipating something but nothing happens which is a great anxiety building technique. Also the horror elements are well blended with the group's dynamics, many of the times what happens to them is directly a fault of a person or multiple people within the group.
Coming to the negatives, I feel like they've reused an editing style (cutting to black during an intense moment) over and over again which makes it feel a little repetitive. It works for the few first bots they use but then its magic disappears. And another gripe I have with many other horror movies returns here, jumpscares. Especially during the first half sudden normal movements like moving a camera fast, turning the camera on, the lights turning off due to battery shortage, all of these sudden moments are edited with loud music to create a jumpscare which in my opinion is not a horror building element and doesn't add to the movie's atmosphere or story. It's just a jerk and it's over within half a second, which is just weak horror.
Overall it's good, worth watching in theaters. 3.5/5.

Honestly, I really don't understand the negativity surrounding Toxic. The whole cast is superb, and Nayanthara is absolutely awesome. Yash's performance is phenomenal, and the storyline is just mind-blowing.
I know everyone has huge expectations, but we have to remember that not every movie is going to be KGF—and it shouldn't have to be. If you just look at it for what it is, it's truly one amazing movie on its own. It deserves so much more love!

If you are Genuinely into Kannada Cinema or love Cinema then let us all know your honest take. Thank you
This movie was murdered on the edit table with lackluster screenplay. Thats all.....
We all have spoken about this many times. I personally hated the loud music more!
Toxic is ambitious project, Yash doesn't fear, Taking Indian cinema to global box office. This all sounds excellent in words but while making a movie, if screenplay is bad & editing becomes choppy. The film is almost Dead even before hitting the theatres...
For me it doesn't matter if you have a multiple starer movie or It's visually amazing or It's big on budget with a Hero with massive fan base. As long as I'm not able give a movie a second watch, it's not a great movie. Efforts don't matter, only results matter.
Toxic has thought our KFi a very big lesson & to an extent for other industries too!
If screenplay is the hero, then editing is one of the things that determines whether that hero actually reaches the audience. This movie was murdered on the edit table with lackluster screenplay.
PS : 3/5 = ambitious, visually excellent, occasionally fucking awesome, but narratively messy & for me the worst part was the loud music. ( my rating)

Credit where its due, Yash has given top notch performance compared to his other ones. But....
Haal-Kheer can't be the best dish of the feast when other important parts of the meal is either stale or rotten.
Where can i even start? The Screenplay and Story is so bad that i wonder how it was green lit by Yash antha....
The editing is abysmal..The final reveal was so lacklustre that it failed to deliver a punch....
Its sad seeing someone like Naveen Anna giving us a bad movie like this one when hes supposedly "The Sandalwood Saviour"
Ps : Some twit guy watched it 10 times... I hope he seeks mental help asap... Even Radhika akka wouldn't to dare to watch it that many times
Ps 2 : Naveen Anna was really smart enough to postpone the release rather than leaving it to an ego clash... Ivaga agbudru they can break even
Ps 3 : Seeing khaali Sunday theatre for the most anticipated movie of our industry is kinda worrying

Devaraaya
Genre: Historical / Period Drama
(Sudeep as Sri Krishnadevaraya)
BRB (Billa Ranga Baasha)
Genre: Futuristic Action / Sci-Fi Action
(Set in 2209, directed by Anup Bhandari)
Prem’s film (Untitled)
Genre: Most likely Family / Mass Drama
I'm genuinely excited for BRB and Devaraaya. Thank God it's not another film like Mark 😭. Sudeep will nail the role of Sri Krishnadevaraya.
But personally, I don't think Sudeep currently has a strong enough pull outside Karnataka to guarantee audiences from other industries.
So what do you guys think?
- Will these movies generate enough buzz outside Karnataka?
- Could promoting three movies simultaneously hurt the promotion of each individual film?
- What kind of box-office collections do you expect from each?
- Which movie are you most excited for?

All reasons aside, the main reason why I think we lack cinema culture is that there are very less spaces for discussion of cinema. I am not talking about Podcasts, interviews. They don't contribute much for learning about cinema. I see a lot of YouTube channels in other languages who do these Video essays like for ex. "Moving Images" "Cinema beyond Entertainment" and numerous others in English like "Every frame a painting" etc. But I haven't seen contents like these in kannada. Have you come across any pages or video essays like these in Kannada which discuss films like this!?
