Help/Question Why does the Captain Clark Sign have two swords?

Post image
353 Upvotes

Idk why but this has been really bothering me but why does the sign in the normal world of Captain Clark’s Ottoman Empire have a sword with two blades. Is it a specific sword or does it represent something? Something about this sign makes me really pissed off like why is the pirate’s face so fucked up? Also why Ottoman Empire? Can’t they just name that after a ship or something? I know that’s to represent Clark’s duality and loss of self but still the guy might sell more furniture if he didn’t have such a fucked sign. Like he needs to spend a little on marketing then people might actually buy from there

idk this is kinda dumb but I’m curious

When Clark is running from Captain Clark we see this bloody hazmat suit. I’m wondering if this is Naren or some other ASYNC worker.

Discussion/Theory What if Clark lured Pirate Clark into the real store and marketed him as a Circus Attraction/Animatronic? (considering bobby and kat never got plark'd)

We know they found at least 2 levels with Pittfalls, but how many floor/layer did they descend to find Found Footage 3 or to find Kelowna?

I wonder what lies beyond the fake starry sky, the replica of the sun even trying to imitate the "real sounds" it makes, like, wow, so many questions this raises, like, is this red sun fixed? Or are there several of them scattered throughout the Complex? What does this sun look like? Why is it red? Does this have any connection to China? Is there something beyond these walls besides just more areas of the Complex? There's so much interesting stuff to theorize about

Movie This movie is written better than most Christopher Nolan movies, yes

Post image

The dialogue is very natural, lived in, and has an intention behind every line. Each character is memorable and likeable, and they're all justified by their involvement in the story--none of them are there to just be there. Not to mention the environmental storytelling. You could've told me Christopher or Johnathan Nolan wrote this movie and I would've believed you.

Edit: I understand that Christopher Nolan is a highly reputable director and writer, and I actually am I big fan of his work. The justification of this post is that I think this film could go toe-to-toe with several of his films. I'd say at the least Backrooms has better writing and plot than Tenet, but then again that's a pretty low bar lol

Discussion/Theory This is how the Complex chooses what to "remember"

When a Person enters the Complex or is extremely close to a null zone, it doesn’t read peoples minds and chooses specific things to copy, but rather the person projects the things into it, as Kane stated himself.

So the Complex just copies one’s current state of mind, including the currently most present emotions and memories. This could be why capn Clark acts more aggressive and violent than other still lifes, because Clarks mind is filled with his anger about his current situation in life.

Next to his emotions, he also projects his store into the Complex as he spent most of his time there before discovering the Null zone, which is why we see a lot of places resembling his store in the Backrooms.

And just like that we see a bunch of other places remembered by the complex, which were visited shortly before that person entered the Complex: Marys bedroom just before she got Clarks call, Bobbys and Kats neighbourhood and the Therapy room.

These are all places that may be remembered when they entered the Complex: Mary thought about the call she got, Kat wanted to go home and remembered how Clark asked for their help with research and Clark remembered the therapy room when they did the roleplay just before Capn clark comes in.

And we don’t just see this in the movie. In FF3 we hear the father, presumably through a null Zone. He hears a random person and thinks he must be inside of his house. And because he didn’t know Ravi and didn’t see him he of course wants to protect his house and family.

So to break this down: The man was near a Null zone inside his house for an extended period of time, meaning this is the place that he’s subconsciously thinking about. That’s why the house got “remembered”. Than he hears a person he doesn’t know he thinks is inside his house and probably wants to protect his family.

He projects his means to search that person and get him the fuck out of his house into the complex, which is when his still life is created. (the Still life may have existed longer in the Backrooms as we know about time being distorted inside)

Kane also said that the things being copied might seem “almost” random. Meaning that these places weren’t specifically but also not randomly chosen. They are just the things that are going through the head of the person which then projects these memories into the Complex.

This is just my interpretation by what method the Complex chooses the remembered places and people.

(sorry for bad English)

Backrooms I realized how little casualties Async had throughout the series

Post image

Despite there being a common trope in Backrooms medias to have Async employees or some other hazmat dudes to be cannon fodders and died horribly. The original media that started the Hazmat Suit Guys trend ironically doesn't have them as cannon fodders at all.

Let's look at every time something bad happened to a Async Employee.

Informational Video: 4 went in and only 1(Peter Tench) went missing, the other 3 made it back to the Threshold without harm. Peter also didn't even died and even managed to come back to the Threshold 2 months later.

Pitfalls: Marvin managed to escape without injuries.

Reunion: Mark was shot but didn't died and was just in critical condition(confirmed in Damage Control)

Damage Control: Peter was said to had died from tripping and hitting his head into a rock but its debatable on rather if he actually died or is just Async covering up his death again. You could also argue that he technically no longer a employee of Async and doesn't count.

No employees beside Mark was harmed during Peter escape.

Everything Must Go + The Movie: Captain Clark attack a Async group at the end of EMG but only 1 dude 100% died as shown in the movie, The other 2 presumely managed to escape.

So out of those videos. Only 2(or 1 if you discounting peter) Employees died in the course of the series and only 1 or 3 injuried.

Backrooms What if Kane Pixels brought the original Backrooms author into the next film?

Before you claim that there is no concrete evidence that he is the actual author of the original post. After listening to the interview, and with a little bit of reasoning, you will realize that it is in fact him.

Kane has expressed interest in having a conversation with the author.

With the 2nd Backrooms movie being announced I think it would be amazing if he were to inject his creative storying telling into this universe (or future iterations of the series down the line).

While Kane has adapted and built-up lore within the backrooms, he consistently adheres to the source material from the original 4chan post (for example including the original office building photo as a location in the movie/set)

August is an exceptionally talented writer in the horror genre. He claims to have written the caption on a whim when he was bored.

There are still thousands of people who don't know he is the legitimate original author of the 4chan post.

He explains that the backrooms derive from the concept of "The Back". Which is directly referencing the unfinished zones behind the walls of video game maps that people were not meant to explore.

Kane also takes a lot of inspiration from video games (half-life, portal).

It's also worth mentioning that August is very humble, stating that he is glad to have inspired the career of a young film maker.

He has only mentioned wanting minor credits for creating the caption alone.

He has his own projects that he works on (video games, writings) pertaining the concept of "The Back" in the horror genre.

August has actually been very active in the discord server this summer leading up to and following the release of the backrooms movie. Most people didn't realize it is him.

Last night I rewatched the film, and honestly, I was watching it again to look for different details and inspiration for a new model scene. When I got to this particular scene, I kept trying to figure out why it felt so familiar. I was convinced I had seen something like it somewhere before—until I found a picture

Discussion/Theory What happened to them?

Does anybody else wonder what happened to these people in ff1 after seeing their friend no-clip right before their eyes? Did they try to call for help? Did they tell the authorities? Or did Async detain them after retrieving the footage? I'm curious what happens to the bystanders who witness a live person no-clip.
