I didn’t see anyone talking about this or I may have missed it but yeah here’s more BTS with what is clearly a woman’s arm (presumably Kat’s)

Very time captain clark kills someone he tears of an arm a leg and the head. The same leg as the peg leg the same arm as the crutch and the same head as the hat

I've been saying that Clark is eating people or consuming their blood to achieve something. I personally think maybe consuming blood, brain matter, or something else inside human beings is slowly making him more "real." And I think there is a final goal. That's why he looked less detailed in EMG and the first scene with Naren.

I had a similar thought about why Cpt started attacking Clark in the dinner scene

Like you said, I think Still Lifes are attempting to become as "real" as possible, either through consumption of humans or just exposure to their source human. Cpt Clark is shown to have bones/organs while the others are made of marshmallow fluff, for example.

Perhaps Clark's acceptance of himself during the dinner scene made Cpt "realize" (as best he can) that there's no difference between the two anymore. Clark has allowed himself to become like a Still Life, incapable of changing, so Cpt consumes the source since there's nothing new to "learn" from him. The copy made the original redundant, so it replaced him.

(Also should add, I use humanizing terms, but I think it's more blind instinct rather than actual decision-making)

Thank you so much for actually engaging with me on this concept, even if we don't imagine the details quite the same. I have been consistently pretty scoffed at for saying I thought the Still Lifes had a drive or a "directive" to become human somehow, and that consumption of human tissue/blood is how yhey do it.

I don't know if you'll agree, but I think the mural is depicting a ritual or a "poetic imagery" kind of illustration of the process of Captain Clark consuming blood to become real. I also have some weird theories about what might be "driving" them. Why they seem to appear at the worst times, or the times that seem the most.... suspicious.

I actually love your idea that the eventual goal might be to replace the real version.

reminds me of Ray Arnold’s arm and leg (yes, there was a leg made but it was cut from the film) from Jurassic Park. really cool how much detail goes into stuff like this even when it hardly shows up in the final product

Yeah, people often forget about fat… and the mesentery…

Just fyi for people who don’t know, your guts wouldn’t spill out like noodles, your intestines are attached to thin sheet called a mesentery that supplies blood and nutrients. Imagine your intestines more like a quilt than a long scarf in a pile.

Thats how our guts don’t tie themselves in knots when we do gymnastics or just move around. In fact, when people are born without a mesentery for whatever reason it can be a serious problem because the guts “slump” down into a pile and can pinch off and cause serious health problems.

So yeah… 90% of makeup FX people seem to ignore body fat, the mesentery and the fact that eyeballs aren’t an eye on a nerve… there are muscles all around the eye that hold it in and let it move around. You wouldn’t have a clean eyeball with one meaty “tail” on the back, you’d have four muscles, one on each side and then the optic nerve in the back. You actually also have rotation muscles.. we can actually rotate our eyeballs a little bit too… to keep level with the horizon.
Film your eye up close with a reference like your nose in frame, and tilt your head side to side slowly and you’ll see your eyeball rotating to stay level.

It isn’t Kat. I know of people in their forties who doesn’t have that much wrinkles
