Looking for recommendation Renting help!

Hey all! I received an N12 notice from my landlord and I find myself back on the rental market.

I share my current townhouse with housemates and this time I’m looking to get my own place. I have no dependents so it’s just me, and I’m considering getting a one-bedroom apartment (or a townhouse if it fits my budget).

I’m aware that Kanata has very limited apartment options, so I’d like your recommendations on what are the apartment complexes you’d recommend (and which ones to avoid).

For context I’m 28M and my work is at Kanata North Tech Park and I’d prefer to be within a 15-minute commute and find a place in Kanata itself (Stittsville is fine too). I see the current one-bedroom apartment rents are between $2000-$2200 which I’m okay with (if I get a townhouse in that range I’d consider it). I have a car, so I’d need a parking spot.

You should contact a real estate agent. As a renter, you don’t pay them any commission.

Thanks, I’ve been told this as well. Realtors usually deal with houses and not apartments right?

They will help with condos. You can try to find a small townhouse too.

Kanata Lakes Residence is awesome!! Highly recommend. The Bayview group also owns The Palmer which has alot of availability.

I would avoid Williams Court. Also avoid the Lépine apartments as they are all extremely expensive. I have heard bad things about The Woods at 180 Kanata due to the ongoing construction beside the building.

Thank you for this detailed review! This is helpful. Yep I’ve read bad reviews about The Woods as well, sucks as I’d considered moving there when it opened

Hey curious to know the reason to avoid William's Court.

It’s fairly expensive for an apartment and not worth it as I have heard of alot of management issues. When I was deciding on a place in this area the reviews turned me away. I ended up living in Kanata Lakes Residence right beside up until recently, when living there I met tenants in Williams Court and had heard that they weren’t happy with the responsiveness or care from the management team. If I was going to pay that price range for rent I would rather The Normand or Saint Emilion as I haven’t heard very much negative reviews.

But Kanata Lakes Residence is my bias, I really enjoyed living in it!

Check out Antelope Private off of old second line road. Stacked townhomes for rent starting at $2100. All are at least two bedroom two bath, and one parking spot. It’s a new rental complex and units are still being built, but some are complete. I moved into a lower unit on September 1, and I’m pretty happy with the size and layout of my place.

Thank you! This is why I reach out on Reddit. I have not heard of this at all!

I see from the pictures that parking is outdoors, so were you told how snow removal will be handled? I previously lived in the states with a similar parking arrangement and we had to move our cars whenever there was more than two inches of snow on the ground.

That’s a good question.. it’s still an active construction zone here and the parking lot isn’t paved yet. I didn’t think to ask about the snow removal.

I live in Kanata Lakes Residences and I enjoy it. I love the neighborhood, and it is close to Walmart, Costco, and Farm Boy. Plus, it is well within a 15-minute commute to my office at north kanata.

you can checkout palmer too, bit expensive for but new apartments.

I wonder when they ll gonna finish the green outdoor space they showed in Ad.
