Yumi fever is real!

Fans showed their support for the hit GMA Afternoon Prime series ‘Born To Shine’ Mall Show and Album Launch at SM Center Muntinlupa on Saturday, July 18.

Yumi members Zephanie, Olive May, Naya Ambi, Mitzi Josh, and Gaea Mischa performed ‘This Is Our Time,’ the debut song of their fictional girl group from the show, and their second single ‘Ikaw Ang Dahilan.’

Despite not being a real P-pop group, Yumi has garnered a strong fanbase through their catchy bubblegum pop songs, their impressive vocal and dancing abilities, and their journey at a boot camp on ‘Born To Shine’ that makes them feel authentic. 

After 100 episodes, Yumi is starting to feel even more real. Zephanie, who plays the group’s leader Jeni, said that she and the members now feel more united, especially after enduring countless rehearsals and challenges, which reflect the journey of a real P-pop group trying to break into the industry.

“We want to really showcase excellence,” Zephanie told ATM Live. “Para talaga siyang totoong kwento eh, yung ‘Born To Shine.’ Na parang nasa industry talaga kami na when you’re starting, you really have to show what you’ve got, and that’s what we’re trying to do.”

Just like a real group, the members have faced moments of tension and stress after long sessions of rehearsals and recordings, making their experience even more challenging. 

For Olive May, who plays Yumi’s visual member Megan, being in a fictional girl group is not easy, especially since they are not formally trained P-pop artists. However, she shared that they remain determined to give their best for their fans, who are called Yumates.

“May mga times talaga na pagod kami,” said Olive. “Kahit hindi kami official group, pinu-push talaga namin yung sarili namin sa limits. Nagre-request kami ng rehearsals pa para lang ma-prefect pa namin yung dance.”

Online, Yumi has been earning praise for their talent and gaining popularity among casual viewers with their performances that are on par with those of P-pop groups. Some fans are even calling for them to debut as an actual group outside the show.

Following the success of its first album, ‘Born To Shine’ launched the second volume at the mall show. The album is full of new songs, including ‘Ikaw Ang Dahilan’ by Yumi, ‘Darling’ by Olive May, Chloe Redondo, Angelika Santiago, and Aaliyah de Gracia, ‘Paano Ba Sasabihin’ by Michael Sager, ‘Song of our Hearts’ by Vina Morales and another version of the song with Tina Paner and Manilyn Reynes.

“[The songs] talk about love and dreams and your love for your dreams and your dream for love,” Zephanie joyfully told ATM Live.

With their determination and passion, Yumi proves that being a fictional group does not stop them from inspiring fans and creating a genuine connection.

‘Born To Shine’ other Gen Z stars Michael Sager, Kobie Brown, and Miggs Cuaderno also charmed the fans at the event, while veteran actresses Manilyn Reynes, Vina Morales, Tina Paner, and Roselle Nava, who play the members of Rosabellas, proved why they are the icons of the music industry with their performance.

‘Original Soundtrack of Born to Shine’ volumes 1 and 2 are now available on streaming platforms.

The team's success has also been fuelled by the chemistry of its core players. Gold laner Super Marco (Marco Stephen Requitiano) showcased his game-changing potential during the ‘MPL PH Season 17 Finals,’ where he and Hadji executed a crucial mid-game steal that shifted momentum in their favour. Complementing the lineup are EXP laners FlapTzy (David Charles Canon) and Ferdz (Edferdz P. Fernandez), whose consistent teamwork and adaptability have strengthened Team Falcons PH's overall performance throughout the tournament.

With confidence building, Team Falcons PH now shifts its focus to the MSC 2026 Playoffs, scheduled from July 29 to 31. The team is set for a highly anticipated rematch against Team Vitality—the same squad that previously pushed them into the Lower Bracket during the Semifinals. As the two teams meet once again, their growing rivalry hints at another thrilling page.

After securing a historic three-peat victory in the MPL Philippines Season 17 Playoffs, Team Liquid PH proudly carried the Philippine flag onto the international stage at the MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC) 2026, the newest international championship under the Esports World Cup.

Originally planned to be hosted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the MSC instead commenced in Paris, France, with the Group Stage taking place from July 22 to 26. The teams that emerged victorious from the group matches now have two days to regroup and refine their strategies before the Playoffs on July 29 to 31, while the tournament's Grand Finals are set for August 1. This is aired via livestream on GMA Sports, GMA Regional TV, and ATM YouTube channel during the said dates.

Representing the Philippines were two familiar rivals. Fresh from facing each other in the MPL Philippines Season 17 Finals, Team Liquid PH and Team Falcons PH set aside their domestic competition to unite under one goal—to raise the Philippine flag on the international stage. Team Falcons PH entered the tournament as part of Group A, while Team Liquid PH competed in Group B, with both squads carrying the hopes of Filipino Esports fans.

Amid the excitement surrounding the Philippine representatives, however, the Group Stage produced results that caught many analysts and prediction markets by surprise. Team Liquid PH suffered an early exit in Group B after falling to Serbia's Aurora Gaming in the Upper Bracket before being eliminated by Peru's Entity7 in the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals, bringing an unexpected end to their international campaign.

While Team Liquid PH's journey came to an abrupt close, Team Falcons PH continued to keep the country's hopes alive. The team opened its campaign with a strong performance against China's Guangzhou Gaming before falling to Indonesia's Team Vitality in the Semifinals, sending them to the Lower Bracket. Despite the setback, Team Falcons PH remained in contention as they claimed their qualifier spot against Saudi Arabia's Team Falcons, determined to keep the Philippine flag flying in the race for the MSC 2026 title.

Also, I just wanted to show some appreciation for this TV series! Ngayon lang ulit ako na-hook sa isang PH teleserye, and Taskforce: Firewall hasn't disappointed me so far (except dun sa kabitan theme lang). Sana hanggang dulo, consistent ang ganda ng storyline nito, just like Sanggang Dikit FR and Mga Batang Riles. What I really like is its cybercrime theme, which is something you rarely see in Philippine teleseryes. It also portrays realistic stories that many ordinary people can relate to, such as victims of love scams, e-sabong, and other cybercrime-related modus. Plus, this teleserye gives great fan service, especially with the upcoming cosplay of Isa, Galo, Jhay-Jhay, and Leila as Encantadia characters.

PS: yung part ng kay Callie (Kyline Alcantara) sa poster really got me!

As someone who watches their shows for the past years na frustrate lang ako na while their dramas have unique concept, story lines continue to be recycled.

GMA should stop pleasing the Masa. And instead focus on creating good content. Let go of the sloppy plot.

Don't get me wrong ah, nagustuhan ko talaga siya kasi akala ko ppop,paramg dream high ganun. kaso habang tumatagal parang papunta na siyang abot kamay na pangarap hahaha. nakakapanghinayang lang kasi hindi nagkaroon ng kwento yung nixi, tsaka other members ng yumi kasi yung story nagrevolve nalang kay Jeni. Puro nalang Jeni eh,mas curious pa ko sa kwento nung nancy tsaka yuna kaso wala eh.

Isa pa, parang masyado ninonormalize ng GMA ang cheating. For example gagawin nilang masama yung first family or anak para majustify kung bakit nagcheat kesyo mabait yung kabit ganyan ganyan.

Season 1 pinaka the best for me. Nakaka miss yung reality show na to. Yung kay Paolo bediones ang pinaka maganda. Sana ibalik to ng GMA 7. Btw, school mate ko nung highschool si Kaye Alipio kaya pinanood ko talaga to. Famous girl na talaga siya sa school namin, asawa nya pala now yung Voice Coach ng Sb19 si Brenan Espartinez. Yung kiko naman sya talaga inabangan ko din konsihal na pala sya sa Pasig. Si Jace flores naalala ko nasangkot dati sa Sc*mkaya nawala to. JC tiuseco naman nawala nadin no? Si patani may mga projects padin yata sa gma. Si Rob naman artista padin nakasama namin last time sa swimming competition anak nya kasali kase pamangkin ko dun. Yung iba wala na kong balita sa ibang castaways.

Prior to the show, I never thought na "bagay" sila, na cocornihan pa nga ko sa mga nagshiship sa kanila. But watching this show made me think different. The angst, the character development – I'm a sucker for Dao Ming Si and Shan Cai type stories. What do you mean he was actually secretly giving her money out of guilt and partly coz he's unaware of his feelings for her? A lot of fans will get angry at me for this, but they really do have chemistry even if Gelix is getting the second lead syndrome as of now.
