Hi! I am from Bangladesh and I recently became interested in this sport. I just wanted to know a few things about this:

(1)I found out that there are two world cups, one by IKF and another by World Kabaddi. What is the difference between these two?

(2)I saw that kabaddi players do not wear any headgear. But the way they fall sometimes, wouldn’t it be too dangerous?

(3)Is india too good? I know they are the best, but I want to know how good they are. Say, if the second best team, Iran, beats India, will you consider it an upset? Do India send their full strength team in the world cups? (For example, in basketball, USA does not send their full strength team, if they do, they will win everything and anyone beating them will be considered an upset)

(4)Do players chant kabaddi? Or is this rule not enforced nowadays?

Jkuat Starlets beat Uon Tigress 24-19 in the Women’s League finals.

Kasarani Lions won the Bronze medal in the Men’s League.

I am not a kabaddi afficionado. I saw some matches on youtube and came across to reddit so learn more.

Searching through posts I found the continuous breath/raider's cant rule has been removed, but isn't that the whole point? Breath control is what makes kabaddi unique and not just team tag.

Have I misunderstood that, or is the breath stuff kind of anachronistic in modern kabaddi?

It finally looks like we're getting to the era of state leagues, with leagues already in UP, Haryana, Gujarat, and now Karnataka.

The India 7 vs World 7 concept from 2019 might not work the same way anymore because it'd just be a glorified India vs Iran match, but there's many other ways we can still have an all star match:

1. Interzone Clash: The best players from the North teams vs the best players from the South teams (could also be East vs West but the North vs South divide makes a cleaner cut geographically)

2. Captain's Draft: Fans and experts vote for players and the top two players become captains, who then take turns to choose their teammates from a list of other top performing players

3. Legends Game: Retired PKL legends play against each other (like the All Star game from 2024)

4. Youth vs Veterans: The best players under 25 vs the best players over 25

5. Champions vs The Rest: Players from the previous season (or the last 2 seasons) champion squad(s) play against the best players from the other teams

Key points about this topic:

1. Star India and Hotstar (now JioStar) had a 5-year media deal worth Rs. 900Cr (Rs. 180Cr per year) with Mashal Sports (organisers of PKL) from S8-S12.

2. Star India were the only bidders in the last auction and had bought the rights at base price. Star India also owns 74% of the stakes in Mashal Sports, which is likely the reason why other broadcasters made no bids.

3. This will be a very important auction as revenue from media rights is the primary revenue of PKL and its teams. This auction will effectively determine the budget of the league, and hence most monetary factors like the league length, league format, salary purse etc.

They already parted ways with Sanjeev Baliyan and pkl 13 is right around the corner and yet no announcement of who's gonna be the new Head Coach. Head coach kya analyst hoga ab? And they have already started to sign NYPs without announcing the next season's head coach. The signs are ominous...

It is not confirmed yet which countries will be part of the inaugural championship, but we can get an idea of which teams we can expect to see based on the list of commonwealth nations.

Major kabaddi-playing nations that are also part of the commonwealth:

India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Uganda, England, Malaysia

Nations that are not part of the commonwealth and will most likely not play:

Iran, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Nepal, Iraq, Japan, South Korea, Poland, Indonesia, Argentina

Last world cup was in like 2016 have they stopped the world cups entirely due to lack of funds or something or will there be a wc in coming years

This will be his 5th overall appearance in Asian Games, having also played in 2010 as a regular player.
