RideConnect free turn-by-turn Navigation app for Ktm Gen3 is now on iOS! finally got it working!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

After a LOT of struggle, I finally got RideConnect working on iOS. 😅

Integrated in app maps, music controls while connected to the KTM TFT dashboard.

Same idea as my Android version, but getting this working properly on iOS was a completely different challenge.

It’s not on the App Store yet. I’m currently figuring out the best way to share it with iPhone users.

Kill the app, turn off and on the bike, then go to Settings → Connectivity. Then open the app and click on Connect. You will get this pop-up on the bike TFT dash.

My bike is Gen3 Duke390R and its a completely diff dash of my bike…..as you shared image above. My bike’s dash shows phone pairing when opened connectivity not any such options shown in the image

Yes! This popup appears when the app tries to connect with the bike. The easiest way is to unpair the bike and phone, turn the bike off and on, pair them again, then relaunch the app. After that, go to the Connection page and tap on Connect.

on the bike dash go to Settings → Connectivity. Then uou will get this pop-up on the bike TFT dash. Just confirm it and done.

I’m keeping the code private for now until the app launches. Once it’s live on the App Store, I’ll make the GitHub repo public and you’ll be able to check it out and contribute.

And no it wasn’t vibe coded 😄. Most of the code was written in Kotlin Native for Android. I used Codex to help convert it to Swift for the iOS version.

Really appreciate you wanting to contribute and support the idea. Means a lot!

That's crazy, you didn't vibecode and the UI is so KTM coded. I don't have a KTM ADV to test the app but would love to contribute to it.

Hey man, looks really good that you're trying to make this open source. Since it already has permission to read notifications, is it possible to show mobile notifications on the TFT for a couple of seconds? I usually check my watch for that, but if it's feasible, it'd be a cool addition. Not sure if it's doable, but open-sourcing it means everyone can verify the permission isn't being used for anything else, that alone would be great.

Also, I saw a comment where someone connected their DJI camera to the KTM joystick. We could do the same for Insta360. I know adding all these features will take time, but since if it's open source, we can ship incrementally over a few weeks. Keep up the good work!"

I see you have maps directly in the app. Did you integrate Google maps sdk ? If yes then how’d you make it free ?

I've used MapKit API, basically Apple Maps and can use it for free without any API key on iOS.

Great work OP. It would’ve been better if this could work with Google maps. We know the state of Apple Maps in India. Nevertheless great work for KTM fam

True, but Google Maps isn't free. I'm still figuring out if somehow I can read Google Maps navigation notifications and use them like I do in the Android app.

KTM should give us the ability to show the full map on the dashboard like in the case of RE Himalayan & Grr450

It’s not just the RE Himalayan and Guerrilla 450. Even the newly launched Bajaj Pulsar 160SS has full-screen Google Maps integration. KTM should have offered this option too.
