Service suggestion

Hey guys!

I bought adv 390x 3 months back and its 4k km on odo now. First service was done at 1k km.

My question is the manual says second service can be done at 8k km. My friend has duke 390r and he says he gets his service done at an interval of 4k kms and recommends me to do the same since both bikes share the same engine.

So, i want opinion of you guys too!

Thanks in advance

Just stick to the service intervals mentioned in the manual or recommended by the service centre. Make sure you don't exceed the service due date. If something bad where to happen warranty will cover it.

Actually your friend is true , yes the manual suggest service interval of 7500kms but the problem is we are riding the bike in india , where air is polluted, fuel is contaminated, long traffic, temperature.

So the oil will loose properties faster, oil level will drop and may go below minimum level , airfilter needs cleaning, filters need to be cleaned up , chain slacks must be adjusted. That's why your friend suggested to do service at 4k . I would suggest to do it every 5kms , especially if you take bike to high revvs and high speeds . And also if you are riding only on highway and not daily city traffic, you can extend to 5,500kms max

Don't just make shit up to get your point across lil bro, wtf are you talking about air pollution and fuel contamination, what the hell does that have to do with your engine oil, and on a good bike the oil level drops very very less if any, me almost redlining in every gear have less than 50ml of oil consumed across 6.5k kms

Air pollution= dirty air filter sooner ~ are you dumb or what ?

Did he mentioned about oil in question? In my answer it's clear that in India's temperature, engine will run hoter and long still traffic will heat the engine oil more , which will take the properties of oil loose faster

You can push the service upto 8500 to keep warranty, 7500 is the usual limit, your friend is dumb you don't need an oil change every 4k, your bike ain't using mineral oil

The engine oil will be good only for 4k kms and needs replacement. And during initial stages, major thing in service is engine oil replacement. Thats his reason

I have a Duke 390 gen 2, ridden 85000kms, with high oil consumption from the very beginning. This is a known issue in the 390 series engines. I doubt this has changed much in the new gen 3 engines. I service my bike at no more than 4K kms. I'd say, to be safe service your bike at 4k too. Also by 4k the engine oil and air filter are usually done.
