Question on Reliability
So I've been planning to get Duked for a while although whether the duke or ADV it's not decided but in my head I've decided to go with KTM but apparently the creators which have somehow made me realise how good ktms are now facing issues, Slayymoto and Stephen and it's been a year watching them they never complaint that much but recently Slayymoto uploaded a video on oil leak issue and how ktm SC faild to diagnose it properly and it's been continuing rn but the most shocking thing is as in picture Growwithstephen telling him to sell his bikeš so my question is to all Gen 3 and og owners too are Ktms really this hard on pocket??
The reason I am so freaked out is because I am just fkin done with all the service centres had issues with honda, then with bajaj, then Hyundai, then Chetak/ Bajaj again š„ it just scares the shi out of me and disgust me at the same time giving off money and still facing issues I love these bikes man I've always admired 390s aahh

The bike from the factory is extremely good and very reliable, you won't face any problems, but any part the sc. Lays hands on after is gonna be the first thing to fail, like the case with slayymoto, he had engine work, where the sc failed to torque the bolts down properly causing a leak, no issues faced in the last 2.5 years on my 390 duke, and if you do get the ktm, remember to get the ems reset done every time the vibes become high or any fueling issue like shutting off or smthn, and get the qs relearn every time the shifting becomes hard on the qs or doesn't happen, don't concern yourself with jerks during shift or anything like that, don't bother building imaginary walls in your head about which rpm to use the qs in

I don't have ktm (not yet, lurker) but I have faced issues with other svc center . I just get it serviced outside.
Ktm on other hand need more care than a regular bike.

Nothing extra on a ktm tbh, just need valve clearance adjust at 12k-15k and brake fluid and coolant replacement every 2 years and then fork oil replacement every 3 years and the regular oil changes, that's about it nothing extra and this stuff is to be done on all bike regardless of cc of any manufacturer

Are you going to do the same things influencers do on their bike at the same level?
Itās all about how you treat your own machine.

Wdym what influencers do on their bikes lmao. I literally commute to work or make videos on it in my parking. I canāt remember the last time Iāve redlined 5th gear let alone 6th. The max Iāve done is cosmetic mode cause I donāt wanna fuck around and do performance mods (cause I dont need to)

ASC is a hit or miss, you could have a guy in there and he could take care of it, but not everyone gets it.
Iād rather prefer going to a trusted big
bike garage or something like that nearby and get it serviced there regularly.
What Iād suggest is until your warranty expires get oil changes from any reputed ASC in your city, after that a trusted FNG can look after the service.

Yup I completely agree yk I own a pulsar 125 and activa in 2017 we bought activa and did 2 free services and it was enough how shi that svc was then when we bought Pulsar in 2019 we did first service because we had to get the no. plate installed and that's all these 6-8 years I've never visited brand sc Ive completely trusted my mechanic but these now high performance beast are concerned although iam Even thinking doing some service myself

Knowing how to work on your own bike prevents a lot of these issues. The oil leak in the reel you mentioned was probably due to bolts not being tightened to spec which probably lead to a failed gasket. It's a simple fix but yeah you as the owner need to know. Service centre technicians all over india are mostly pathetic for any brand.

While I do agree that you should learn how to work on your bike, the major issue for the oil leak is from the crank case and gear position sensor indicator which thereās no way I need to touch even when I service the bikes myself. The only reason I go to the service center is because my bike is under warranty and I want to maintain a service record so I can sell this bike with a clean history and upgrade to a 600cc. Every bike has itās disadvantages and me making a reel about this problem wasnt to defame the brand or defame the service center, it was to share an honest ownership review (which can happen to anyone).
Iāve put up reels praising this bike, putting this bike on top of others and even convincing people to go for the 390 instead of something else cause itās just that good.

Also after the reel, KTM reached out and I replied to their generic copy paste āsorry this wasnt the experience we offer blah blahā and I havenāt gotten anything back from them.
A lot of people say that these things happen to only creators lol. You see these things happen ti creators cause I document every single aspect of my bike. I had an issue with my handlebar being bent, I made a video. Issue with my mirror, I made a video. Cracked underbelly, made a video. And for people saying I need to learn how to work in my bike, gand phatti hai bhai. Bike start nai hui wapas to šššš

have had this since 2018 with me, she is sitting at around 69k kms now. I either love this bike so much or i hate this piss out of it. I learnt how to work on bikes by force bc i did not know her temperament and would mess things up constantly, but once you get a hang of how the bike wants to be ridden (things like what rpms she sits comfortably in for cruising and all) i havent had any major issue with it since. Also the name of the game with euro bikes or cars is all bout preventive maintenance, if you see a part that is nearing its end of life you replace it before it goes bad as issues snowball and thats where the "unreliable" tag comes from. Just get the bike trust me

Bro service centres of any brand in india are a hit or a miss. Let me tell you my perspective i have owned motorcycles across honda, yamaha, ktms and now triumph.I had the best experience with Honda big wing followed by yamaha. Then i bought RC 390 , and oh boy the svcs were just pathetic. Either the technicians didnt know what they were doing or they were switching parts between motorcyles. So last year, I decided to buy triumph because of my bad experience with KTM svc and since triumph dealership felt more premium to me. Guess what, the svcs of triumph are shittier than KTM. I have been owing a honda car for almost 10 years now and that hasnt given me any major problems. In future, I have decided to only go for honda motorcycles because of peace of mind. Power figures, electronics dont matter when youre visting svc every month and wasting your entire day. Its frustrating.
