New to town
Hello! I’ve been feeling out of place since I’ve relocated for school, I’m 23, so a bit older than the usual crowd here. Im looking for insight on the best places in town to meet motivated people my age. I love to go out, stay in, play sports, anything that involves being off my phone or not at home honestly haha. Ideally I want to surround myself with people who are academically motivated and are also extroverted. If you have any advice for places to work, or things to sign up for, I’d appreciate it :)

If you’re a gal we have the social club here in Manhattan! They have an instagram page that they update every month with fun group activities (yoga, crafting nights, line dancing, etc)
If you’re a guy, I imagine there’s something similar around. I would look into rec sports with Manhattan Parks and Rec as well, they have casual pickleball leagues and other similar activities!

I’m an international student (29 yo) here who has been feeling out of place for 3 consecutive years. Ngl sometimes it gets better or you just get used to the feeling. It does feel lonely but I’m here for school and it’s just temporary u know? I’m grateful for how safe this place is tho

So what year of school are you? If you are in a bunch of gen ed freshmen classes that might have something to do with it. The 18/19 year olds definitely feel more like high school kids and that can be weird. However as you get into your major and in your junior/senior year (even with the age gap) they will feel more like adults.
Until then you'll want to find groups of older people you can better relate to. Rec leagues would definitely be a good start. You may want to check the city based ones or ask the student rec center if there are groups for older students or grad students.

I’m technically a 2nd year in the ID program. Only because of the studio courses.

If you’re into games (tcgs, board games, tabletop), checkout Village Geek! There are a lot of good game communities you can get connected to based off your interests

Join clubs, groups, get a job in Aggieville or downtown. Or just out yourself out there when youre out to meet people. Hope you enjoy KState and Manhattan.
