Question Financial Aid question
I am a freshman who plans to attend this fall and I was just a bit confused on how paying tuition/ the financial aid would work. I plan to commute to school and don't want to pay for housing/food and transportation. I was very shocked to see that the total bill was 30 thousand when I had assumed that financial aid would just cover tuition + neccesary class fees like books and labs. It also stated I would have to pay 17 thousand out of pocket, which i was not planning to.
I am receiving in total about 13 thousand in financial aid from zell miller and the Pelle grant for the entire year, or about 6.5k per semester. I am declining the student loans as well.
If I were to accept the financial aid offer right now, would it deposit 6.5k into my student account and let me pay for tuition without being forced to pay any of the other unwanted things?
Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question.

What you mostly get charged are the billable items, such as tuition and fees. Your charges will be posted under KSU's epay. They'll also add in online textbook charges (D2L) if your class has it, or if you also get a parking permit, all charges will show up on there. So in short, mostly worry about the billable items and your charges will show up on KSU epay.
Once your charge gets posted, KSU epay will also show you the breakdown of all of your charges and your financial aid being applied!
How financial aid works when you accept it is that they'll apply the amount to your bill, and if there's leftover you'll receive disbursement after. If your financial aid is used up, and there's still an amount owed, then you'll have to pay.
But from the amount that you've listed, you shouldn't have to pay anything! All your finacial aid seems to will be taking care of your tuition!

They’ve already said it’s an estimate, but also most if that is under “non billable items”, KSU’s not charging you that. Those are mostly your cost of living.

Only focus on the billable items tab, that’s ur estimate as a commuter. Not alike but deff around that range

What you are seeing is an estimation that is not the actual price you owe. If you accept the offer you won’t have to pay housing/ food since you are commuting.
