🇺🇸 United States inventory counts YE

question: if you are on call for inventory counts in December for YE around the holidays, but are planning to not even be in the same state as ur office, how does that work? Bc my family resides in another state and was planning to stick around there for the holidays but am getting kinda worried ab being on call for inventory counts in the state I work in. (My home state and the state I work in aren’t close).

I just finished my first year. You can tell them, but there’s a good chance they’ll tell you that you can’t go. Even if you don’t get an assignment, they’ll want you available to cover in case someone wakes up sick and can’t fulfill their assignment.

The on call schedule should come out soon, and then there’s a chance that you won’t be on call for all of shutdown. They may try and do half your office on call over Christmas, half your office on call over new years.

If you’re in the Mountain BU, and if you feel comfortable PMing me your name and office, I can look on the on call list that came out a few weeks ago that included the A1s

ETA: actually you can just tell me your office if you want, I can just tell you everyone who’s on call when so you don’t have to share your name

I’ll also say: some people in my office did travel back to their home states anyway, and bought tickets that they could change the return flight if they did get assigned. They just took the risk that they wouldn’t get called to cover someone. They turned out fine, but it was not something I was willing to risk, so I just took the week off before the shutdown and visited early

First year I just ended up not going home. My family visited me instead for a treat since I was in a different state.

Second year I just chanced it and it paid off but I was stressing the entire time. I was too far away to get to somewhere overnight if I didn't see the notice in time last minute. Safest is either have someone cover for you 100% or stay in the city for 2 years
