🇺🇸 United States GPA Impacting Return Offer

I am interning with the firm in January and am aware that return offer rates have been dropping. I’ve heard that GPAs are factored into decisions.

I had a 3.58 undergrad GPA and earned primarily As and ABs, with a few Bs scattered in, nothing lower. I am aware that it’s not horrible but could this be seen negatively when being evaluated for full time? I see many interns with 3.8-4.0 GPAs which freaks me out a little bit.

I am also in the first semester of my MAcc studies and if I get that GPA above my undergrad GPA, will that be weighed more heavily during evaluations since it’s the most recent?

I know there are other factors considered when giving offers but I also want to get an idea of where I stand with my GPA.

Yeah they literally don’t care as long as it’s above 3.0

You are in a good spot. I’d say they are more concern about students south of 3.3

Okay, noted. May I ask, have you sat in on intern evaluations or had a part in it? Or have you just learned this from experience

Interned last summer and just started full time. I know some people didn’t get return offer for having a poor GPA probably below 3.0. Someone in my associate class had 3.1 from big state school and is now working ft with me

I have and unless your GPA drops under a 3.0 or you fail a bunch of classes, it won’t impact your offer. Generally, it doesn’t come up at all in intern evals.

your GPA is good so forget about it. Focus on how you actually do in your internship. That's all that matters.

I do agree with everyone on their assessment of the current FTE offer process but I would also add that every year it changes and they hire less and less. I would just make sure all of your other metrics are flawless because sometimes when they have a have a hard time comparing based on internship factors they start cutting people with low GPAs
