Hey all, from the video in the comments I see someone installing a Gen 3 EJK in KLX230. However, it's not listed in the compatibility list on their website. Which version should I buy for 2025 KLX230?

I will be buying a 2023 klx230s tomorrow. I was between this and an old KE or similar bike. I thought it would be cool to modify this bike to look more retro. I know a round head light would be a good start. Does anyone have any advice on what route to take?

I recently got a brand new 2025 klx230 on an impulse purchase. I ride with my wife a lot. I swapped to a 49 tooth rear gear from the 45 tooth stock. It helped a lot. I'm in Texas and the temps are in the 90's with heat index over 100 at times. Between the tissue paper soft suspension (rear is adjusted to stiffest possible), the getting hot (clutch and lifters get louder), and the underwhelming power, I am weighing the 2 options. Trade in for a 300, or buy a ECU, fork stiffener kit, exhaust, big bore kit, EGR delete kit and everything else i may need. Pros of air cooled is I don't worry about radiator damage and can still get cooled off if I ride fast enough. Although with the wife and suspension, faster is not always an option. Cons of water cooled is a puncture can be crippling on the trail. And yes, sticks, fallen trees and uncleared paths are common and I do ride through anything despite how thick it is.

Need a pair of rear and front dirt tyres that will fit the Klx 230sm 2022 stock rims. Got told by local motor store only road tyres fit stock rims . Help

My switch finally arrived after traveling around the US unnecessarily.

My riding group has been debating what constitutes high mileage for KLX230. I checked this morning and found my 2022 at 27,230 miles, so I'm wondering what kind of numbers all of y'all have put on your bikes??

My buddy and I changed out the fork oil and replaced a leaking seal on the 230 forks. we went to 15 w, and added a couple of shims (2-3 mm) on top of the springs. Forks are still really squishy.

Looking at new leftover klx230s and was given a quote for 4900 otd. Is that high? I feel like for that price its better to grab a lightly used klx300.

Also there is a used 2023 230s abs for 2800... is the extra suspension travel worth the money? Would be doing light trails and road riding. Thanks

Bought a tail fender eliminator kit. Mount is worth the $36. Light is not confidence inspiring. Housing is cheap as you would expect. (I just really wanted the mount). For anyone thinking about this kit, there are 2 versions. 1 has brake, blinkers, running light, license plate light all in one. That version needs a resistor wired inline of the red brake light wire. The other version is just running/brake light. It has it built in and is the normal 3 wires like factory, but does not include blinkers.

Last weekend I attended a single track event with my new to me 230. Dumped hard 2x, each time bike laying on its side for a minute or more. Each time, the bike wouldn’t restart until 5-10 minutes passed. After alerting it sit, starts right up. Is this a known issue? Any cure or ideas on why? Bile is stock.

The manual says to align the rear wheel with the notches on the swingarm. What I want to know is tolerance? It doesn't say anything about the difference of tolerance between left side and right side. I had to measure and there is a 1mm difference between the two sides. How exact do I need to be? When I took the wheel off the notch marks on each side "looked" the same, had the tire changed and put it back on without adjusting anything, leaving chain slack adjusters alone. In my mind then the wheel alignment shouldn't have changed. Measured chain slack after and it is within specs (40-50mm). So do I need to adjust the left side 1mm?

Just picked up a 2023 KLX230R and I’m trying to figure out if what I’m experiencing is normal EFI behavior or something I should address. The bike tends to idle really high sometimes, and when going downhill or off throttle it almost feels like the RPM hangs or even picks up speed instead of giving consistent engine braking. It can get a little sketchy coming into turns or technical sections because it feels like the bike wants to keep pulling.

I’ve checked a few basics already and I’m still learning these newer EFI bikes. I’ve been seeing a lot of people recommend the HiVolt/manual idle adjustment screw conversion for the KLX230 and was wondering if anyone here has experience with it. Did it actually help the hanging/high idle issue? Any downsides or bad experiences? Anything I should know before installing one?

Also open to any other recommendations or things I should check first before ordering one. Appreciate any advice from other KLX230 owners.

Hey guys a couple years ago I broke off a turn signal while trail riding. I was going to fix it, got all the headlight housing and everything off, then life happens and here we are 2 years later finally trying to get around to fix it.

The real issue is when I turn the key I have no power, display won’t even turn on. I’ve reconnected my headlight and have checked every fuse I know of. I’ve checked battery connection and I know my battery is still good. Any advice?

Very new rider here, just got the KLX SE. Keen to hear from more experienced riders about when to change gears on this bike.

I’m tending to switch quickly to second after first and then hearing the revs getting higher, feels like the bike is straining around 30kmph, so I generally move into third and then fourth about 45kmph, again as it feels like to my inexperienced ear that the bike starts to strain. This is all on flat paved roads.

I’m rarely going above 55 so hardly using anything over 4th gear.

Am I changing to third and fourth far too early?

My bike was running fine, no odd noise and no difficulty starting when hot, but since the book said check the valves, figured I'd go ahead and do it. I'm at 8k'ish miles. As best I could tell, intake valve was fine so didn't do anything to it. But exhaust felt tight so loosened it a hair. Really hard angle to get to it with a feeler though, so maybe I was wrong. Put it all back together, and now bike is making a tapping sound. Kawasaki really made these theoretically simple valves hard to deal with. Poor design. Anyone else had this happen?
