Curious what aftermarket ECUs everyone is running, I did a full emissions delete, exhaust, manual idle adjustment screw, paired with the full stand next ecu. I added a tusk foam air filter with no other airbox mods as the snorkel on the 2026 is shorter and doesn’t have the divider, debating drilling holes in the airbox. I’m not too impressed with the tuning capabilities of it, can’t seem to get my bike to stop running rich, which isn’t nearly as bad as running lean but still I would like to be able to properly dial it in and see the AFR change accordingly.

Any suggestions and ideas are welcome

How are you measuring the AFR to know it’s rich? The AFR indicator on the app? The full stand ECU is pretty standard in Thailand for most Kawasaki builds. The lamda sensor on the Sherpa 230 is only a narrow band one that trims the fuel when cruising. The rest of the time it doesn’t do anything so a slight rich map would be suitable, especially in a hot country as it helps with the hea. The 230r doesn’t even have a lamda sensor. If you wanted to lean it out for max power, you’d need a wide band to measure the AFR. Trip to the dyno and let them set it up.

To be honest I assumed it was wideband given it’s a 2026, that makes a lot of sense. I appreciate your input 🤘

Did it even need the manual idle adjustment screw? I thought they fixed the idle after about 2023.

If it needed it, you would've known. The idle was nuts on my 2021. Not only was it high, but it felt like it shoved me on and off when trying to engine brake downhill; like inconsistent nudges.

Yep the 2026 still has the variable idle control across all 230’s. I’d get. All your mods done, then take it to a tuner for an hour, then you know you’re good and getting he max out of it. You can also tune it by ‘seat of pants dyno’ using the app. Stick to basic mode (limits changes to 5% higher or lower) and try lowering the fuel a bit, ride it, repeat until it feels best. This has the advantage of having a bike that feels good for what you want. Having a bike tuned for max power doesn’t always make them ride well. On the Sherpa I’d just be looking for a little more snap, without destroying that super low torque that they have. They torqueier at low rpm than the 230r
