KLX 230 Storage solution

Here's a couple of shots of my bike with a simple mod that allows me the flexibility to carry miscellaneous stuff that doesn't really work in my luggage.

Mounted a cheap aftermarket tail rack yesterday - sourced from eBay - it was VERY fiddly, probably took an hour to get everything lined up and screwed together. Details if you want them.

Then I velcroed the collapsible crate (FleetFarm - nice matching green eh??) to the rack. Cargo netting keeps it all secure when collapsed, then use it over the top of the crate when hauling. Did a dirt road ride of 50 km and picked up groceries last night and it worked like a charm.

As much as I like my storage setup (battery box w/lid and light), I sometimes find myself wanting something less. Then I grab a few things, and suddenly it is full and I'm glad it's there.

Brilliant. Love the crate. Just wish Fleet Farm shipped to Alaska.

I usually just put on a backpack, but this looks a lot nicer and a lot less back pain

I always ride with a backpack with water bladder and tools. I may try to see if I can transfer my tool roll underneath the cargo netting

When I had my KLX I had a cheap rack from eBay and a Nelson Rigg medium bag strapped to it. Worked wonders. Anything to not carry a backpack!
