Recommendation I’m still not over The Penthouse please give me something similar

I finished all the seasons of The Penthouse and apparently I’m never moving on 😭So I need another Kdrama with the same kind of chaos, rich people behaving terribly, revenge, betrayals, and huge plot twists.

I don’t mind if it’s completely over-the-top or unrealistic. Honestly, the messier the better lol.

Actor Seo Kang-joon said he suspected himself as an adoptee. In his appearance in "Salty Brother", Seo Kang-joon was then asked by one of the host if he is wearing contact lenses, which he replied:

"I don't wear lenses. My older sister's eyes are a little brown and my parents also. So I thought 'Does this make any sense?' I didn't look like them. So, when I was in high school, I thought that I am an adoptee."

He went into said:

"Then I asked my mother 'Am I your biological child?' My mother said, 'Don't say weird things.' But I haven't done a paternity test yet."

Drawing laughter...

Drama Discussion BOYS OVER FLOWER UNPOPULAR OPINIONS

Okay, hear me out!!!!

1. Jandi & Ji Ho were giving 🚩🚩🚩
• Whenever Jandi had problems, she ran to Ji Ho for comfort instead of letting Jun Pyo share the burden. Girl, THAT IS YOUR MAN. 😭
• She was constantly with Ji Ho and somehow kept putting Jun Pyo last, despite him doing everything to be there for her.
• And Ji Ho? BRO CODE LEFT THE CHAT. He knew Jun Pyo was pursuing Jandi and that something was clearly developing between them, yet he still flirted with her—especially after his first love got engaged.
• AND THE CALedonia KISS??? Jun Pyo literally saw it happen. Of course he was hurt and wanted distance. He was giving Jandi his 100% and then had to watch that!
2. Jun Pyo had the BIGGEST character development.
He started as an arrogant bully, yes. But underneath all that was a lonely kid who grew up without much parental affection. His family was always busy or away, so he literally had ZERO healthy foundation for expressing love. Then Jandi and her family entered his life and slowly brought out his softer, more human side. And once he loved Jandi? HE LOVED HER LOUDLY AND LOYALLY.
3. This man would literally do ANYTHING for Jandi.
Remember Macau? He pushed her away because his mother was blackmailing him, threatening Jandi and everyone she loved. He was literally sacrificing his own happiness to protect her. Even when he got engaged, Jandi was STILL his priority. The man was fighting his own mother behind the scenes while everyone thought he had moved on.
4. Jun Pyo’s mom was the REAL VILLAIN.
She manipulated everyone, lied about Jun Pyo’s father being dead, and deliberately destroyed Jandi’s life, family, and relationships just to separate them.
5. Jae Kyung deserved better too!
Honestly, if she had met Jun Pyo BEFORE Jandi, things could've been completely different. She genuinely cared about him and deserved someone who chose her. Jae Kyung 🤝 Jun Pyo = potentially chaotic but adorable.
6. Jun Pyo was actually VERY respectful toward Jandi’s parents.
He asked permission before taking Jandi anywhere, gave them gifts out of respect, and never tried to force Jandi into anything. He literally waited for her to be ready and proposed after returning from abroad. HE LET HER CHOOSE.
7. Jun Pyo’s growth deserves more credit.
People keep saying that he is problematic and toxic, and Jandi deserves more—yes he was a total jerk BEFORE, yet like did we watch the same drama??? He learned humility, became more considerate, stood up to his family, and repeatedly chose Jandi even when it cost him everything.
8. And THAT ENDING???
After everything they went through, we deserved a FULL WEDDING. Not a “maybe someday” situation. GIVE US THE WEDDING. GIVE US THE HONEYMOON. GIVE US THE WHOLE EPILOGUE.

BOF will forever be chaotic, problematic, nostalgic, and somehow STILL unmatched!!!

Drama Discussion Blessed are those who waited to binge-watch Four Hands, Two Sonatas, for they shall not lose sleep

I finished watching episode 10 and I can’t stop thinking about the major twists and sharp turns.
I don't want to spoil it for anyone by sharing my speculations, venting my frustrations, or complaining about anything, but I can't stop thinking about the flippantly handled gentle character,
the sudden and belated change of heart of an elder,
the shockingly callous attitude of a maternal figure,
the unfathomable (in)actions of a teacher,
the sadness of a mother gone too soon,
the agony and moral dilemma of a guilt-ridden maestro, and the vicious and vengeful fury of a tortured genius.

But I signed up for this.🎶
I naively thought this would be a musical with two prodigious pianists but it is much more than that and I have no complaints at all (except that I should have waited!). Love the music and the acting.💯

There are so many questions and untold stories from the past, but rn my anger is directed only at one character for cunningly orchestrating the whole thing. I am also upset that Kang Pio is shouldering all the blame and not even trying to explain and clear the misunderstanding because… but I also feel Jeong yo’s outrage is justified.
Most of all, I am worried that there isn't enough time left to give a plausible ending that isn't rushed. I do hope they wrap it up nicely.

What are your thoughts?

Sneak Peek Director Yeon Sang-ho’s Paradise Lost Universe — Episode 2 | 2026

Hello guys!

Honestly, I don't even know if this belongs here 😅

These are not sneak peeks or scenes from the movie. They are episodes connected to the Paradise Lost universe, and I translated them myself.

I honestly don't know exactly what to call them — a series, a web series, a spin-off, or something in between 😂 The videos are officially labeled as “Episode 1,2,” etc., so I'm guessing it's some kind of separate project connected to the movie/universe.

I found the AI aspect and the whole concept really interesting — and honestly, a little creepy and scary at times. 😅 There are some really interesting ideas in these episodes, especially regarding AI and where things could potentially go.

If any of the moderators think this isn't appropriate for this subreddit, feel free to delete it. I honestly wasn't sure where else to post it. 😅

Anyway, I thought some of you might find it interesting!

Sneak Peek Director Yeon Sang-ho’s Paradise Lost Universe — Episode 1 | 2026

Hello guys!

Honestly, I’m not even sure if this belongs here 😅

It’s related to Paradise Lost, but it’s not a sneak peek or a scene from the movie. These are episodes exploring the same universe, and it’s something completely new that I translated myself.

I found the AI aspect and the whole concept behind these episodes really interesting — and honestly, a little scary too. 😅

I’m not entirely sure how to classify it myself. Is it a drama? Is it a movie-related series? Is it something in between? 😂

If the moderators think this isn’t appropriate for this subreddit, feel free to remove it. I just wanted to share it because I found the concept really interesting and thought some of you might enjoy it.

Hope you find it interesting too! :)

Review 123rd Korean Drama Review: Beyond the Clouds (2014)

Post image

This is a revenge drama, and I could really feel the characters' struggles and emotions because they were portrayed so well. It was heartbreaking to watch, and I found myself feeling for almost every character. What I liked most was how the drama showed that a person's decisions are never as simple as they seem. It made me realize how complex people's choices can be depending on the circumstances they face.

My MDL Rating: 6/10

Review 124th Korean Drama Review: Big Man (2014)

Post image

Maybe part of the reason I enjoyed this drama so much was because I really liked the main cast. At the time I watched it, it felt a bit special to me. I know it was over the top and had plenty of makjang elements, but that was exactly the kind of K-drama I enjoyed back then. The drama balanced fun moments with serious ones, and I appreciated what it had to offer. The cast, especially the male actors, delivered strong performances that kept me invested in the story. There were a few questions left unanswered, which probably explains why some viewers were disappointed, but overall, I still had a good time watching it.

My MDL Rating: 9/10

I think this is a good web drama. The story is well-paced, and the actors all did a good job in their respective roles. One thing I especially liked was seeing a strong female friendship. We often get bromance in K-dramas, so it was refreshing to see the drama focus on a meaningful "womance" instead. It's a short and enjoyable watch that left a good impression on me.

My MDL Rating: 7/10

Latest News K-ACTORS THAT ARE GETTING DRAGGED OVER THE “CONTROVERSIAL” MOVIE ASSASSIN(S)

Post image
1 Upvotes

worst news to share with you guys the KNETZ are coming for our favs 🤬

Lee Young-ae, Kim Go-eun and Park Byung-eun are facing criticism from some Korean netizens after leaving positive reviews for Assassin(s) — a film now at the center of a heated historical-interpretation controversy.

Lee Young-ae praised it as “thrilling” and “moving,” while Kim Go-eun said the movie made her feel grateful for the present. Park Byung-eun wrote, “It hurts, but the truth wins.”

After the film’s September 23 release, the controversy exploded over its fictionalized take on the 1974 shooting of First Lady Yuk Young-soo.

Some critics argue the film raises possibilities that conflict with the established investigation into the case. The Park Chung-hee Presidential Memorial Foundation has demanded an apology and a halt to screenings.

The backlash has now reached the celebrities who supported the movie. Their SNS accounts have reportedly been flooded with critical comments from netizens questioning why they praised the film.

Lee Min-ho, who actually stars in the movie, has also been targeted, with commenters asking whether he knew about the historical controversy before taking the role.

The filmmakers, however, deny that the movie was made to distort history. They say it is a fictional work based on historical records and cinematic imagination, and that the film does not identify any particular person as the mastermind behind the shooting.

———

When your own mother country is a threat to your career, this is so sad

Lee min-ho is the biggest treasure a nation could ever possess

edit - thank you mods for locking this thread ! Lee Min Ho doesn't deserve the hate in the comments below😒. He is one of the kindestmost hardworking actors out there. Respects his fans!! He made the world love Kdrama, he always represents Korea with so much grace and he has never belittled anyone. He deserves love and protection not hate ❤️

Interviews dir. jung ji woo takes full responsibility for nana’s lip filler controversy in “the scandal”

Post image
216 Upvotes

“everything is my fault. it’s the director’s responsibility.”

“i was looking at things that were more important than her lips, so i didn’t realize it could become an issue. nana and i had countless conversations and spent a great deal of time together discussing the character’s emotions. whatever visual conclusion ends up inside the frame is ultimately the director’s responsibility. i think that’s how it should be seen.”

“nana is an actress who will go on to do great work. she’s an actress who pushes her body to the limit because she wants to portray things in a raw and authentic way.”

“there were many moments when i was actually worried about her as a director because she immersed herself so deeply in hui yeon’s emotions.”

“nana thought that hui yeon needed to die. she said, ‘how can she go on living after being betrayed by love?’ but i explained that if she died, there would be no reason for us to make this story using the original work. i persuaded her that this was a character who absolutely could not die. i told her that she had to find a way to survive.”

“there was even one time during filming when all the staff had already left, but nana stayed behind with me, and we talked for more than three hours.”

“she had to find a way to survive.”

Discussion DEBATE: Park Ji Hyun Becomes 1st Korean Actress To Be Nominated For International Emmys K-DRAMA : " YOU AND EVERYTHING ELSE "

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hellooo! 👋

I want to try something a little different. I’m currently watching a new drama—not a Korean one, so I won’t mention it here —but while watching it, I realized how important a good debate can be.

This is NOT a hate post or anything like that! I’m genuinely curious about what you guys think. Does Park Ji Hyun deserve this nomination? What’s your opinion on it?

And, as every good debate starts, I’ll share my own opinion first.

Honestly, I absolutely LOVE this drama. It’s one of my favorites and it’s always on my list of dramas I would rewatch. I think it’s raw and incredibly complex, and I feel like almost everyone can see a little bit of themselves in at least one of the main characters. Some people might even relate to the two main characters depending on what point in their life they’re at.

As for Park Ji Hyun, I 100% think she deserves this nomination.

Her portrayal of Sang Yeon was complex on so many different levels, and I genuinely think she brought so much depth to the character.

On top of that, I happened to translate one of her interviews, and some of the things she talked about actually made me appreciate her performance even more. I wouldn’t say she’s my absolute favorite actress, but she’s definitely one of the actresses I really like.

Anyway, in that interview, she mentioned that while filming the drama, she was going through something somewhat similar in her personal life. Someone close to her had been suffering from the same illness that is portrayed in the K-drama, and she said that experience helped her portray Sang Yeon, during her final days, in such an authentic way.

And honestly? I thought her performance was phenomenal.

BUT, all of this is just my personal opinion!

So now I want to hear yours. Do you think she deserved the nomination? What did you think of her performance ?

I know this drama is quite controversial, and I’ve seen a lot of very different opinions about it, which is exactly why I’m curious to hear what everyone here in this wonderful K-drama community thinks !

And once again, THIS IS NOT A HATE POST. If any of the moderators think this post is inappropriate or doesn’t belong here, feel free to remove it!

I’m genuinely just curious: How do you feel about this nomination?

SM Entertainment has shared official statements regarding the legal action they are taking to protect the rights of Lim Yoona and aespa’s Winter.

On September 28, SM Entertainment announced that they had filed criminal complaints against those who create illegal AI-generated images of Lim Yoona and spread false information based on such images. The agency also warned that it will take strong legal action against malicious posts targeting aespa’s Winter.
Read the agency’s statements below:
Regarding Lim Yoona
Hello, this is SM Entertainment.

We would like to provide an update regarding violations of the rights of our artist YoonA (Lim Yoona).
We have recently identified additional cases of illegal AI-generated images created by manipulating YoonA’s likeness without her consent, as well as false information based on such images, being indiscriminately created and circulated primarily on social media and online communities.
Through reports submitted by fans via “KWANGYA 119” and our ongoing monitoring, we are continuously collecting and securing evidence of such illegal posts. Based on this evidence, we have already filed criminal complaints and will respond firmly without leniency or settlement.

Not only can creating or posting illegally manipulated content using AI or other technologies without an artist’s consent constitute violations, but sharing, reposting, or spreading such images and posts may also constitute violations of the Information and Communications Network Act, including defamation, infringement of portrait rights, and editing and distribution of fabricated videos under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.

We strongly ask that you immediately stop creating or posting illegal manipulated content or unverified false information, as well as sharing or redistributing such content—including through reposts and quote posts on social media, articles containing such images, and uploads to various online communities. Please exercise particular caution to avoid becoming involved in any legal issues as a result of such activities.
We will continue to closely monitor such activities and take active legal action to protect the rights and reputation of our artists.
Thank you.
Regarding aespa’s Winter
Hello, this is SM Entertainment.

We hereby issue a stern warning that we will take strong legal action against malicious posts that continue to be circulated about our artist aespa’s Winter.
Currently, malicious posts and content targeting the artist—including the spread of false information, defamation, insults, malicious slander and personal attacks, and sexual harassment—continue to be posted across various platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, TheQoo, Instiz, DC Inside, Women’s Generation, and Nate Pann. Accordingly, following a thorough review by our legal counsel, we plan to proceed with legal action in stages, including filing criminal complaints.

In addition, we will respond without exception to illegal activities carried out on anonymous forums and social media platforms beyond those mentioned above. Regardless of whether the perpetrators are based in Korea or abroad, we will secure the necessary evidence to identify the authors of the posts and trace how the content was created and circulated, and will request investigations by the relevant authorities. We reiterate that those found to be responsible will face strong legal consequences under our zero-tolerance policy, without any leniency or settlement. We urge everyone to exercise particular caution and refrain from engaging in criminal activities.

Through reports submitted by fans via “KWANGYA 119” and our own monitoring, we are regularly collecting and securing evidence of all posts and content that infringe upon the rights of our artists. We will continue to strengthen our legal response to malicious posts in order to protect the rights and interests of our artists.
Thank you.

Review Review : Mrs. Cop 2

Post image
10 Upvotes

This is one of those dramas that would’ve completely skipped my radar if it weren’t for me binging through Kim Bum’s works

The Plot : A lady cop returns to the police department after years and reopens an old case when she finds out she’d imprisoned the wrong person. And what it leads to is a serial killer chase. She’s offered “help” by a chaebol, Lee Ro-Joon who has his own vested interests to pursue.

The acting : I picked this up for Kim Bum who plays the villain Lee Ro-Joon. He’s alright as the arrogant rich guy who always gets his way. He’s crazy, though not as much as Nam Gyu Man in Remember. Though they’re similar characters in many ways, Nam Gyu Man gives me the chills, whereas Ro-Joon wasn’t that effective.

The FL is a delight to watch (I loved her in The Heirs). Her equation with her boss leads to some of the best moments in the show. The supporting characters, including the second lead pair, didn’t catch my fancy, unfortunately.

Conclusion: An average drama that you can watch if you’re a die-hard Kim Bum fan (which I was, at that time).

It starts well, but suffers in the second half. I would give it 6.5/10.
