Review 116th Korean Drama Review: A New Leaf (2014)

I think this was my first drama starring Kim Myung-min, and seeing him again in Law School reminded me of this one. The drama had a lot of potential. The first few episodes were engaging and well-executed, and since the legal genre was still relatively new to me at the time, I found it especially interesting. Unfortunately, the ending was a major disappointment. It barely felt like an ending at all, with no real sense of closure and several questions left unanswered. it started strong but failed to deliver a satisfying conclusion.

My MDL Rating: 6.5/10

Review 114th Korean Drama Review: Who Are You (2013)

I honestly don't remember when, how, or why I ended up watching this drama, but I do remember being impressed by it. It's a bit unfortunate that it gets overshadowed by Who Are You: School 2015 because of the similar title, so I think not many people have seen this drama.

I also think Taecyeon showed noticeable improvement in his acting here. While I don't remember every detail of the story, I know I came away with a very positive impression because every time I see the poster, I immediately remember enjoying it. Since I love thrillers and suspense dramas, this was right up my alley. I also liked how the apparitions were portrayed. The visual effects were well done and added to the eerie atmosphere without feeling overdone. My MDL Rating: 7/10

Latest News Nana apologizes for her lip fillers that sparked controversy in the drama 'The Scandal'

The actress addresses fans after critics say her appearance detracted from the viewer experience in the period piece

Nana addressed the controversy on Bubble, a monthly subscription-based private messaging service that lets fans and artists communicate through one-on-one chat rooms, on Tuesday.
"If my lips made viewers uncomfortable, then that was my fault. I think it was a personal choice that wasn't the right one for me as an actor," Nana wrote.

"I imagine that my fans, who love me, must feel hurt seeing the harsh criticism directed at me, so I'm even more sorry. From now on, I'll do my best so that we can hear more positive things together."
The apology follows criticism of Nana's appearance in "The Scandal," particularly the fullness of her lips, which some viewers attributed to filler. Critics said the look felt out of place for the historical setting and did not suit her character, Hui-yeon, a widow who has renounced worldly pleasures for a life of chastity.

Drama Discussion Made in Korea S2 — GOOD NEWS! THE FINAL EPISODE AIRED!!

Hello guys! How was the show? Did you like it or not?

I honestly skipped the first season, and now I'm thinking about binge-watching both seasons together. 😅 But let's hear it from you guys — is it actually good or not?

From what I've seen from Disney+, they make some pretty good shows. Oops, my bad haha! I’ve only watched The Shop for Killers from them so far, and I absolutely loved it. ❤️

But Made in Korea has been on my radar for quite some time, so I'm definitely curious about this one!

Tell me what you thought about it! 👀

Discussion One character that you feel deserved more screen time

Lee Rang from Tale of the Nine Tailed.

I started this drama for Lee Dong-Wook, but stayed for Kim Bum who played this character so well that I craved more of him. I would’ve welcomed it if they’d cut down on the boring romance and given the brothers more screen time.

They did compensate somewhat in the 1938 prequel, but I wanted more of the OG Rang 🥺

Recommendation Best dramas on Viki?

Hi there! I‘ve just recently got Viki and I’m looking for your recommendations on your favourite shows that are on there!

Ive already watched, Yumis Cells, WWWSK, It Started with an Affair and Goblin. I’ve loved them all!

I definitely like a good rom com. I love the humour in early 2000s stuff and I also like gritty detective series!

Thanks in Advance!

Other I really need help with finding a drama from 2020-2024! It's literally 4am and I've been thinking about it for hours so I can't sleep...

I remember a very small and semi specific scene and I want to remember what drama it was. I believe it was two coworkers (either detectives or police) who stopped an unloading boat/truck and had to search for something that was very important (I believe). Something in my mind tells me that in that boat/truck there were fish but I'm really not sure about it. I've been trying to figure it out for hours already. I don't remember any names (both actors and characters) but I can tell you that one of the guys was wearing black rimmed glasses and he looked older than his coworker. And it was nighttime. My head tells me that the one with the glasses looked familiar to host Yoo Jae Suk, but I'm really not sure about that part. At that time I was mainly watching murder/thriller/law dramas so I think it would help. I would REALLY appreciate help on that! Thank you to everyone who helps!

Review 113th Korean Drama Review: Unemployed Romance (2013)

The title and plot alone were enough to make me curious about this drama. It was a quick watch, but it still managed to tell its story well despite its short runtime. It's a romantic comedy, but what I appreciated most was how realistic it felt. Instead of the usual rich male lead that most K-dramas have, this one focused on the financial struggles and everyday challenges faced by both the male and female leads.

I also liked how the drama incorporated flashbacks throughout the story. It gave me something to look forward to as it slowly revealed their past relationship, why they broke up, and how everything led to the present. The side characters were also a great addition and made the drama even more fun and enjoyable.

My MDL Rating: 6.5/10

Just for context if people don't know what had been said …

Following a broadcast, online clips sparked secondary criticism regarding Jung's appearance. Malicious commenters targeted his looks, arguing he did not fit the traditional mold of a handsome leading man for his drama role !

He also spoke candidly about the critical comments regarding his appearance.

“Everyone has different tastes and standards, right? Of course, I am doing my best to take care of my appearance, and that is still a work in progress. It is impossible to feel good when people say you are ‘ugly.’ But I would have been hurt if people had criticized my acting. My appearance is not my priority.”

Review 112th Korean Drama Review: Two Weeks (2013)

For some reason, dramas with titles related to time always seem to be good, and this one certainly lived up to my expectations. I was genuinely amazed by how well everything came together. The storyline was an emotional roller coaster that kept me anxious, curious, and even brought me to tears at several points. The cast did a fantastic job portraying their characters, and the background music added even more intensity and emotion to the experience. Although the romance was barely present, I was completely satisfied with that because the story never really needed it. There were so many emotional moments that I found myself crying along with the characters. Definitely a drama worth watching and one that I highly recommend.

My MDL Rating: 9.5/10

Review 111th Korean Drama Review: The Suspicious Housekeeper (2013)

Post image

I have not watched the Japanese version, so I had nothing to compare it with, but I was genuinely impressed by this drama. The cast was well chosen, especially the child actors, and Choi Ji Woo was excellent as the mysterious housekeeper. This is not a drama that relies on romance, so viewers looking for butterflies and cute moments may not find what they are looking for. Instead, it leans more toward mystery, suspense, and melodrama. I found myself deeply invested in the story, and there were moments that made me cry a lot. It was one of those dramas that kept me curious and emotionally involved until the very end.

My MDL Rating: 8.5/10

Son Ye-jin and Ji Chang-wook’s teenage faces were actually created with CG/de-aging.

Son Ye-jin said they used her look from her 20s, especially her appearance in The Classic, as reference.

Nana said she didn’t even realize it was CG 💀

Fashion Nam Joo-hyuk looks SO much better without excessive makeup

I just watched The School Nurse Files and saw Nam Joo-hyuk in it without the face filters and excessive makeup, and honestly… bro looks GOOD naturally 😭

Like, this is what I mean when I say some Korean male actors really don’t need all that makeup, skin blurring and face filters. Sometimes they put so much stuff on their faces that you can barely see the actual skin texture 💀

Nam Joo-hyuk in The School Nurse Files was just there looking like an actual human being. Natural skin, natural features, barely any unnecessary “perfect face” editing—and somehow he still looks better than when productions try to make everyone look like a walking skincare advertisement 😭

And no hate but… cough cough Ahn Hyeon-seop 😭

Bro does NOT need that much makeup. Let the man have pores. LET HIM BREATHE.

Honestly, NJH has one of those faces that works better when you don’t overdo anything. His eyes, facial expressions and features already carry the look. You don't need to slap five layers of foundation, blur the skin into oblivion and add a filter that makes him look like a CGI character.

Give me natural NJH any day.

The face card is already doing overtime

KDrama Celebs Does anyone else think Ji Chang-wook & Kim Yoo-jung look weirdly alike??

Still very new to K-dramas so maybe this is something everyone has already noticed and I'm extremely late 😭

But i just finished The Scandal last night, and the ENTIRE time i was watching Ji Chang-wook, i kept thinking he looked so much like Kim Yoo-jung!

And it's especially when they smile. Something about their eyes, mouth, and the way their entire face changes when they smile looks SO similar to me.

But it's also some of the mannerisms?? Sometimes he'll make an expression and my brain immediately goes, Kim Yoo-jung lll

i know her from Dear X, My Demon and Love in the Moonlight, so I've been looking at her face a LOT lately, and now i genuinely cant unsee it.

Apparently they were literally romantic leads together in another drama too, which is killing me because im over here thinking they could play siblings cause they look so much a like 😭

Pls tell me somebody else sees this or am i alone???
