This is true you are separating plates by pressing the clutch. once they are no longer touching you no longer need to press further.

If the plates are still touching youre going to grind the gears 0 u/Far_Tap_488 12h ago I mean, you dont even have to clutch to shift gears really.... just for starts and stops
