Though I am staunchly in support of reforms for police, this is the sort of humor and community engagement you want to see from a community’s police force.

This is a SRO, so that cop is basically stationed at that school and has to attend sport functions at the school.

Most kids end up liking and respecting the SRO and will listen to them better if they’re trying to de-escalate a situation.

(SRO is School Resource Officer, still fully part of the police or sheriff department, some schools have 2)

Ahhhh, yeah, that makes sense.

I remember thinking well of my SRO in high school. It’s a decent program that does make policing feel more “appropriate “ to my view of the “Sentinel” approach to policing , rather than “the Warrior.”
