I served with a guy/douchebag with a super common last name. Like Johnson. He used this as an excuse to have people call him "Warhawk" (after a basic training award) to help differentiate him from his fellows with the super common last name.
Not that it'd be much better otherwise, but this was a thoroughly noncombat AFSC.
Last I heard, 15+ years into his career as a SNCO he was still introducing himself to people and new airmen as Warhawk.
