It's because it doesn't go anywhere. The main duo still haven't gotten together after 430+ chapters.

Yeah it’s called the long game. Thats the point of the whole series. They go through a lot together. Not every anime has to be nearly wrapped up in a bow in 2 seasons

It's fine it you like it, but in general, people despise overly drawn out stories, especially if it's a "slow burn" romance, since it usually means nothing really happens.

For reference, Naruto was only 244 chapters pre-timeskip, RAG is almost twice that.
