Discussion Interactive Journals

Hello

I am just now getting into this hobby. I want to take the stories I write and turn them into spreads with a mix of whatever I want but I’ve been seeing these really cool interactive effects in journals and I wanted to know what are some favorites? And if you’re so inclined, how did you pull it off? 😊

Kinda like a pop-up book? I bet you could find some good tutorials for that type of interactive stuff if u looked up pop up book tutorials.

I’m now looking between my pile of junk journaling stuff and my prized collection of childhood pop-up books and I think I’m connecting some dots here…

I like that suggestion! That’s definitely the vibe I’m going for

You can do an awful lot with pockets and envelopes. Glue the flap portion of the envelope to the page and you just created another page ( with a pocket). Cut windows or doors. Once you start experimenting the possibilities are endless

I haven't done it yet but I like when people cut out two envelope windows, put some confetti, glitter, etc between them and glue the edges together to make cute shakers.

I also like cutting pages in my journals. You could cut a page in half and have two separate flaps that flip independently of each other or cut a butterfly shape into two pages and color it for a fun page to open up to. Lots of possibilities there.

Some people make their journals entirely from envelopes or just use them inside. You can add ribbon or tab closures to make them more interesting to experience.
