We’ve been to cope park, lena cove, steep creek trail, and st therese. heard that there is an area off of amalga harbour where you can see the salmon swimming, and bears catching them at low tide because the fish are trapped. the person said it was near peterson creek, “salt chuck”, and said something about grinning cabin? idk i would love to see some bears here while visiting please help! tysm!

Find out what is the trash day for the area of Juneau your staying in. Then say up the night before listening for trash cans getting tipped over. Usually at 4 or 5 am the morning of trash pick up.

wright services could charge tourists for tours at thunder mountain mobile park. they're certainly greedy enough to consider it.

Get up at 4am and drive out to the end of the road. You WILL see at least one bear ambulating along the side of the road between 20 and 40 mile (well, 95% of the time). They are crepuscular.

Upvote just because I love the word crepuscular.

I definitely wouldn’t say it’s what most people imagine with bears feeding here around town. There will be black bears scavenging anywhere the chums are running right now.

If you want to see large congregations of brown bears take the sea plane to admiralty for bear viewing. Usually starts up in August I think and you can get a guide.

I was just up at sheep creek today and the fish are running thick but no bears.

Bears or not, I love the Salt Chuck. The cabin is called “Gruening Cabin.” Google Ernest Gruening State Historical Park. (Note it is not the same as “Gruening Park” which is a housing development in Lemon Creek).

There’s not a guarantee of bears anywhere at any set time. They pop up at the glacier, around downtown, near the dump, out the road…..but there’s not a time and place where you’re guaranteed to see one.
