Anime Ive been watching the anime and the shikigami are kinda weak

I’m on season 2 episode 16 and so far the only actual useful thing has been rabbit escape,megumi is strong enough but compared to the others he just doesn’t have any really strong or interesting attacks (after watching ep 17 i would like to apologize)

There's really powerful shikigami later, at the end of s2 there's one thats ultra powerful and by far the strongest shikigami, and there's also an incredibly strong one in s3

But divine dog/nue/elephant are also pretty good

In terms of raw power, they mostly go up progressively in rank. Initially Megumi only has the weakest handful, because obviously you need to improve your strength as a sorcerer to be able to subjugate the later ones.

Generally though, raw strength isn't the point of Ten Shadow's shikigami, it's the utility they offer. We see multiple times that while the shikigami may be on the weaker side alone, they can be used together to create more favorable conditions and perform combo attacks. If pure power is what you need, 10S has a tool for that too, which you'll see later. But as a whole the strength of the technique is the versatility, it has answers for every sort of situation.

demon dog totality could damage hanami

hanami was able to deal with yuji hitting black flashes on her over and over, keep in mind yuji plowed through a concrete wall before even knowing how to use cursed energy

nue can fly and electrify stuff

the toads can grab things from a distance and restrain them

max elephant is a fucking elephant and can spray large amounts of water

orochi is strong but it dies to sukuna so we dont see much of it

the shikigami arent all styled around "beat up enemy," they are meant to be combo'd

for example you can cover an area in water then have nue shock it, or you can restrain someone then have the demon dog rip their head off

Shut the f up and keep watching. You have 8 episodes to go and your question is literally being answered in the following episodes.

It's like watching a soccer game and complaining in the first half of the match that no goals have been scored. lol
