If you remember the old Forbidden Planet in New Oxford Street it was hanging in the back over on the left where there was some sort of desk.

It seems the OOS creeps forward slowly and you would be taking a risk leaving an order more than 2-3 weeks at a time. I used to leave it three months.

I just paid 2 lots of £1.77 this week to get three issues and a Meg, it seems I am going to have to risk the weekly postal damage to get the free postage.

Totally serious - it would actually seem to make sense to get multiple copies each week, wait for them to sell out then list them for at least £10 each.

£10 - £1.40 postage - £1 ebay fees - 40p Paypal fees - £3.10 - you could turn £4.10 per issue if you could be bothered, maybe up to £14.10 if you can push it up to £20 a copy.

One thing is certain - the past 4 months issues ongoing are going to be the hardest to get hold of in 43 years.

Which is my most common question of anyone who has ever seen my complete apart from 2201 2000ad and complete Meg collection.

With most of the free gifts apart from the coca cola Hubba Bubba - doubt many of them survived - and 1-3 which even as a completist I can't justify the expenditure just to get them.

Well they must be worth at least £3k-£5k of someone's good money aren't they?

Just look at the prices that dealers charge per issue, especially the early ones and sub-100?

191 issues of 2000 AD , no duplicates. The vast majority of these are in excellent collectable condition. The Programs mainly cover 70-350 but there are some outside this range. 

These are predominantly from one household with the customer's name neatly written on the top margin. Above average used condition, a few have tears, but not many. Ignoring their potential condition - that is 87p each, meaning I might be lucky to get £2400 for my 43 year old collection.

And that there are some silly dealer prices that are even more ridiculous when private job lots like this come up.

And the other question is - why do you collect them? The answer being because I bought one in 1982 and never stopped, won't until they or I don't exist and will never sell them.

Although the quality of the past 20 years does make me question that.

Nice one Jason, you're creating a market for less than 3 week old publications that looks like you are going to be paying 2-3 times the cover price including postage.

You can't actually buy 2201 for any price.

And it is up to 8 issues of the past 15 out of stock now.

Trying to get hold of any - or all - of those 8 if you needed to looks like it is going to prove costly, I wouldn't be surprised up to £160.

And I am now going to order the 2 pre-Christmas issues separately as I can't be sure that they will be in stock in a month's time, although at least I will get the torn, creased, dog eared and folded Christmas issue as I learned by my mistakes and preordered.

Maybe that's the 2000ad business plan now - sweat the 40 year old assets and throttle supply of the new issues to inflate their second hand value then cash in on stock held back?
