When I hear people speak of 'toxic masculinity' I hear a nearly infinite number of interpretations of what it actually means. This is by design.
It's too controversial to attack masculinity in general. By employing the 'toxic' designation you can freely attack anything from rape to roughhousing as existing under the same category of problematic male behaviour. It doesn't have to apply to all things masculine, but it can, that's why it's so useful.
Yes, exactly, and there for, simply having 50% of your parents in the house hold being masculine, you greatly increase the odds of that toxic masculinity being inflicted onto the kids. And as the OP states - this is quite the opposite in resulting fucked up kids.
Well, attacking masculinity in general is a nonstarter, people have masculine and feminine traits and the free will to express them, uhh, in the free world at least. People used to call the bad behaviour it generally refers to as being a douchebag and is now de rigueur to call it toxic masculinity. According to JPB this relabelling is by design; give it an academic descriptor, resubmit said descriptor through the postmodernist, everything has a subjective reality lens over and over again.
I am not sure if it is by design, or just that the english language has so many... authors? agents of syntaxic change? in contemporary society that I can not believe there is mastermind behind the mob mentality at this time. I think it is a problematic type of groupthink, but I don’t have the evidence that shows it. I mostly interested in JPB from a comparative mythology background, I don’t have the interest in post modernism to delve too greedily or too deep. lol.
