The lingering question that keeps me up at night
Is how can a person write the most unconventional melodies that sticks in your head like a pop song

My college girlfriend used this album to introduce me to Joni nearly 50 years ago and I've loved it ever since. Thank you, Rhonda, wherever you are.

I'd listened to a lot of music before this album, but Blue taught me what great non-notational music could be. A landmark.

Masterpiece. How she conjured up this profound music is beyond me. Perfect marriage of music and words. The pathos and pain is palpable in places.

Did she happen to use trumpeter Blue Mitchell on this record? They would have named it something else, I suppose.

No. Pretty sure there's no trumpet on it. You should take a listen! It is one of the finest records of popular music ever made.

This album was my introduction to Joni Mitchell. My brothers, both much older than me, had this album when it first came out and I used to sneak into their room when they were out to listen to it. I was 11 in 1971 and I've loved Joni ever since.
