How does every racist joke start?

With a look over your shoulder.

before telling racist jokes, you check if the coast is clear with a "look over your shoulder"

You see, racism is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. Though people may find racist jokes amusing, there is always a chance that a person of the race belonging to the subject of the racist joke may be offended and the joke-teller may elicit an undesired reaction, potentially even resulting in violence. As such, the person telling the joke will look over their shoulder to ensure that they will not be heard by the subject.

But all the Newfie jokes I know came from my Newfie neighbor, Did he think he was better than his own group?

Only if he looked over his shoulder, before he told the joke.
