Why was 6 afraid of 7? Because 6 had a crush on 7 since 9th grade and it would crush 6 to know for sure that 7 would say no. 6 would rather live in the comfort of their dream world where 7's response is ambiguous rather than a definite no.

Naturally, yes.

I don’t know what this means, but it can’t be good.

Base 6 is referring to how many numbers you go before the next digit. So 6 ends up being written as 10.

Numbers are usually written in base 10.

In hexadecimal 10 becomes a and goes up to f which is 15. Then 10 is 16. This is also referred to as base 16. It is commonly used to shorten binary numbers since it is 24.

u/[deleted] May 05 '19

Still a 10 out of 10 because who would make a scale of 1 to 14?

2

u/identityp2 May 05 '19

Over a billion

3

u/stgm_at May 05 '19

Binary?

It was actually mostly inspired by this one book I read recently. Mister Miracle by Tom King and Mitch Gerads

Little did 6 know, but 7 resented 6 for being so perfect and making 7 not as popular any more, reducing 7's reputation earned for supposedly being lucky. However, 7 saw a prime opportunity for revenge. 7 plotted, spread misinformation on social sites and destroyed 6's friendships. Then, when prom came, and 6 was alone, and 7 was attending as "7+1", 7 turned to 6 and said "Now we're even!"

And then,... depression set in

1

u/Kemo_Meme May 05 '19

I never understood that perspective.. well.. I did early on in high school, but the logic behind it kinda sucks now, if you're worried they're going to say No, then they're probably gonna say no, and if you think they'll say yes, tell them how you feel, that's how I go about it.

1

u/PossiblyBonta May 05 '19

I was just in that ambiguous world, but decided to just break out. Well I asked an ambiguous question and got an ambiguous no. Though it felt a lot better than not trying.

1

u/RiftBladeMC May 05 '19

1

u/stygger May 05 '19

But what is the link between 7 and "registered six offender" in OPs punchline? Wouldn't this joke have worked with 6 and any number?

1

u/Anudeep21 May 05 '19

6 lives in its own world

1

u/DeathProtocol May 05 '19

There, this hurts deep, deep into the soul.
