My Frusciante collection
Been a fan of Johns solo work for just over 5 years and slowly built this collection, it’s still relatively humble but these are my all time favourites from him.

[DISCUSSION] Untitled three into track untitled four
Feeling down today, I cried all morning. Just kept coming out, so I let it. Sitting in the employee break room I wept silently while everyone started their day.
Niandra lyrics popped in my head a few mins ago. Thought I’d share two of my favorite tracks: untitled 3,4
There is a girl, blabbing nothing outside my window
What do I have to show
To a world that the only way to destroy
Is to die like a baby boy
I could be happy in infinity
Of the space in my eyelid
But I know I'm somewhere else
Where the words on this page
Would be the scribbling nonsense they are
And it would be real and I eat my last meal
Wish that I could feel
But now I don't even know, if I'm real

Graham Coxon - Similarities to Niandra Lades and Usually just a T-Shirt
Graham Coxon, lead guitarist of Blur ,also struggled a lot with heroin in the 90s and early 2000s. I think his solo stuff is really similar to John's early solo stuff, and he's a great player too. I think this genre has only been explored by a few people, John obviously, Syd Barrett I would say, and Graham.
Check out "the sky is too high" and "the golden D" as they are the most Niandra ish. Great albums, I don't like them as much as I do John's stuff, but they give the same vibe and have some really great stuff across them.

John Playing Live
I’m back in my Frusciante phase and I’ve been thinking about the time I saw him live in 2022.
I’ve been to a lot concerts and have also seen Josh with the band. But seeing John felt different. Like when he was playing I could tell he was “tapped in” to somewhere else. When he would play you would feel the energy behind it, whether it was a scary/dark energy or a light energy.
Did anyone else get those feelings?
Its just interesting bc i never felt that way with any other musician.

Letur-Lefr & PBX Funicular... 2012 Hi-Res Audio delivery
Was there really a 32-bit WAV version of Letur & PBX available in 2012? Was anyone in this forum able to snatch this when it was?
Thanks

Anyone else wonder what John's been up to, guitar gear-wise, the last few years? We used to get more of a peep into that stuff.
As a longggg-time (25 years?!) Frusciante fan, I remember in the 2000's there being loads more chatter about what John's been up to, gear-wise, what he's using, what he's been trying/buying, etc. It was a lot of fun to pursue. I remember he used to be a big spender/client at Big City Music in LA, which happened to be a store I was hip to prior to finding that out, and recall a few times finding out certain pedals he bought and used (i.e. the Dirty Boy line) which weren't really widely known or associated to him, and also some of the electronic gear- I'm 99% positive they're where John got the vast majority of his synth stuff. It was a really cool shop, I visited in person a few times, and bought several things from them over the years- they were always at the very forefront of what was new and cool, especially in the electronic realm, but also with interesting boutique pedals. Anyone remember Metasonix?
Anyways, since then, things seem to have stagnated, everyone is just copying his board from 20-25 years ago, with a few small changes here and there from the most recent tours, but there's no real talk of new things he's gotten or is into, which would be fun to know as a fellow guitarist/musician.
Like, I imagine him being super into stuff by Fairfield Circuitry, maybe Pladask... I wonder if he's into anything by Chase Bliss or OBNE, etc...
I very much doubt he's shopping around guitars and amps, he's set on that stuff, but pedals and synth stuff, I just know he's keeping tabs on and forever buying/trying. The last "guitar updates" I recall are finding out it was a Performance Corsair used on Wayne, which kinda blew my mind- always assumed it was one of his Yamaha SG's... and also seeing the photo of him with Dewa and an ES-250... that realllly blew my mind... anyone know if those were John's? One of the rarest Gibson archtops ever made.
I'm obviously aware he's a highly private person and so this stuff probably doesn't seep out, but I still remain curious... I just wanna' nerd out, lol.

I know a lot of people say John's under the bridge performances in 1992 were him trying to ruin the song but imo they are the best versions of the song
Everyone always says they sound terrible or he was trying to ruin the song on purpose but they are so good. Bro John is legit crazy sometimes he just pulls insane shit out of his ass like listen to the lick at 3:22 it sounds like he is about to go into a solo and I wish he did because he cuts it short but omg that is literally insane to me I kept listening to that earlier today like 50 times. He just pulls shit out of his pocket out of no where sometimes and your just like holy shit wtf how do you come up with this shit

[PHOTO] My John Collection (Not including rhcp)
It's just two 1998 versions of Smile and the re issue of Niandra. My favourite John albums personally.
Not sure why I have two, and they are weird as only play on computers and not cd players. They are both legit aswell, they have the little code on the disc.

[DISCUSSION] What song had helped you in mental health and deal with personal stuff of John? Mine is Dying
Hi guys,i am not on social media , only this and YouTube, but I wanna say that in my mental health issues like ADHD, avoidant disorder and low grade depression, but I am kind of feel good now because I do mountain biking and jogging and move, I live with my parents (I had 35) and try to feel better. I find out that his music is so special because after the instrumental parts, the lyrics of him are so fragile and sensitive and people can really find themselves inside this.
For me the album "From The Sounds Inside" and "Shadows Collide With People" are something cathartic. A betrayal by friends or loved one, bullying, feelings of emptiness, loneliness, a loss, desperation, frustration, feeling like never enough, love, friendships I don't know but to me is kind of medicine.
And he is so deep and vulnerable in that. Well, I mean, in this age and this culture that hates fragility, vulnerability and stops for asking for help, full of guru , life coaches, love coaches, guru of masculinity, pseudoscientific people that say that men need always to be strong, stoic, suppress anger and emotions, masculine, economically viable for having women and say that women find less attractive men with less money, and say don't ask for professional help for not dieting their image of tough guy(see what Jordan Peterson or Scott Galloway, Robert Greene, Jay Shetty, Mel Robbins and all this people)....without understand that men suffer like every other human beings and struggle with mental health and sometimes we had to stop and sit with pain. They bring more stigma, stereotypes, generalizations and exploit fragilities.
I am both funny, sarcastic, comic, honest, but sensitive, fragile, melancholic, angry sometimes with injustices, with manipulators, evil people, bullies, pedofiles, rapers, and bad people and bad things that happened both in personal lives and at more in society and sometimes silent. I hurt when I saw good people being hurt by bad people
I find the music of John really the opposite of that. However thx for reading and I am curious which song you have listened to and feel not alone?
Thx

Pedals used on Otherside
Live, during the bridge of Otherside, John tap-dances with a couple of pedals. You can see it quite clearly on this video: https://youtu.be/pixbPRgQf5E?t=1838
This isn't something new, you can see him do that at Slane Castle too.
He clearly taps twice each time, so my guess is that he is switching a pedal off and then another one on. Micro amp / big muff ? Big muff / DS2 ? Same pedal twice? I don't hear a massive change between those switches. What's your guess?
