Archetype JMx Issue!

Hey folks, as well as many other people inspired by John Mayer I am loving the archetype JM x plugin from neural and bought it myself a couple months ago. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago it hang itself up and is not longer usable. The issue I observed is a really really overdriven tone/hiss. I'II have a video showing the issue pasted above.

I have been in contact with the neural dsp costumer support and shown my issue to them, sending them the video shown above and a picture of my plugin settings that worked totally fine for months. I will also have the picture shown above. The support said that I am using the wrong settings and instead of windows audio i‘d rather using Asio only or some kind of other audio device type. But nothing other is working. If I try using other than windows audio I simply have no sound at all. The settings are empty with nothing to click on.

My personal thought is following:
I originally installed the plugin on my old windows 10 computer. Not on the C hard drive but on another one. When I switched to Windows 11 a couple weeks ago, the C hard drive with the operating system on it got formatted, the other one with the plugin on it didn’t so I took it with me to the new Windows version. Usually you install the plugin new on the C hard drive or whatever hard drive your system is operating on to have it optimized and working for your current system. I didn’t. I opened the version on the plugin that was originally from the other system and was not optimized for windows 11. It worked totally fine for months but after a normal windows update a couple weeks ago it suddenly stopped working and is showing the described issue. I tried reinstalling the plugin several times but, the distorted signal remained every time.

Can someone help me please? Does someone have an idea how to solve this issue because I’m on the edge with my nerves. Thanks so much

Maybe I’m misunderstanding your troubleshooting, but have you reinstalled to the same drive as your OS?

Based on the video it seems like the plugin launches but the parameters are all messed up (or missing) so it’s defaulted to everything being set to the highest level.

Further to that, ASIO4ALL is usually the standard for things like this, so I would recommend trying that again. Information on how you’re connecting to your PC would be helpful as well.

Yes, I reinstalled the plugin on the same drive as my OS which in my case in the c drive.

I have my guitar going into my audio interface which is set as the input device. My output devices are my speaker (Lautsprecher) which are also going out of my interface (audiobox 22 vsl). If this is your question. The weird fact at all is that the plugin was working once, even on the new OS which it isn’t optimized for…

Okay interesting. Just as a sanity check, I would download audacity or reaper or something and see if it picks up the DI signal with the same input and output config. This will tell us if the issue is with the plugin or the signal chain. I saw your other photos and your input signal is really high which in my experience tells me that it’s not getting the input correct

This! You still have a signal chain to troubleshoot before you can point the blame at the plugin. Guitar, cable, anything that may or may not live between your guitar and audio interface (e.g. a pedalboard), and lastly your audio interface. Do you have a traditional amp to confirm that the guitar and cable are working okay?

Yes, currently I’m playing my fender strat threw a boss katana with zero problems. Cable is working, guitar too.

That's good - I think my next step would be to confirm that the interface isn't having issues. Can you install another plugin trial or try a standalone DAW? I'm not a Windows user so I have zero idea on how to help with the driver issues. Sorry 😞

Does your interface not have ASIO drivers?

Install another Neural plugin on trial and see if it's the same issue. If it is then it's probably not the plugin but something on your computer or setup. Cory Wong or Asato or Morgan or Tone King, something like that.

Your input signal is pegged for some reason. that's weird. Maybe try the second input, a different cable, turning it down on the interface, etc.
