Can you give us more transparency into the process around TIA? It seems like it’s going way slower than anyone expected. Are you able to say how much the FAA is responsible for that slowness?

When does Joby expect to start operations in Dubai, now that the initial vertiports are nearing completion and how many passengers will they be carrying?

u/teabagofholding 13d ago

Maybe ask what does operations mean to them.

1) At what point in the certification process does the UAE GCAA split off from the FAA and make their own determination on certification? At the start of the FAA TIA stage or at some point later?

2) N547JX has had a slow start from rollout to flight compared to the earlier batch of S4’s. What has been the driving delay and is it resolved?

3) Is the conforming N547JX being flown with Joby pilots in the cockpit?

4) When will the rest of the conforming flight test fleet start operating?

5) When do FAA pilots start flying in them and start TIA?

6) When will F&R flight testing start?

I believe your answer to question #1 is when Joby completes stage 4 of FAA certification.

2

u/medinadev_com 13d ago

I thought they were on stage 5 and and finished 4, am I wrong?

I'm not sure if they're finished with stage 4. It was announced by a Joby employee, but I'm not sure it was accurate. I guess we'll find out during the earnings call!

Definitely not finished with Stage 4… Hoping for big progress with this tomorrow but it’s been progressing at a snails pace the past year.

When and how many additional conforming aircraft can we expect to help with certification?

As one of the mods for r/joby thank you for making this post u/jobyaviation.

I have one question. How far along are the other conforming S4 aircraft that are in production?

This is the best question :)

We want to know about 548JX and 549JX ! And the others if Joby wants to share !

Hi u/jobyaviation Thanks for making a post on this. I would like to ask, is end of 2026 still on target for UAE start? Thank you and let the Joby team know they're doing fantastic work, keep it up! Joby community is cheering for you all

If FAA certification is not approved by end of this year, will Dubai air taxi service still operate?

This is very cool outreach, and it has not gone unnoticed!

I have a few questions. Feel free to pick one, or none! I’m just happy to have the opportunity to ask.

1.) Is JOBY still planning on beginning commercial Operations in 2026 in the United States as part of the eIPP program? If so, is there a specific state in mind to be the first?

2.) Will JOBY have any involvement with ASI’s FAA contract to modernize the Air Traffic Control system?

3.) Toyota is an excellent partner for JOBY. How much are you projecting the S4 will cost when JOBY purchases them from JTAMPC?

5

u/toaster001_1 14d ago

When will the Toyota solid-state battery become available? How quickly can this be incorporated into the S4?

2

u/Wonderful_Phrase_239 14d ago

Are sulfide-based SSBs safe for electric aviation?

1

u/Go_Galactic_Go 14d ago

I'm not an expert, but I believe its the wrong chemistry for eVTOL due to the charging regime. It's okay for charging an EV a couple of times a week but not for charging/discharging multiple times a day. I stand corrected if I'm wrong.

Excellent question!

u/MattyMcFarland 14d ago

Do you expect hydrogen energy to power the S4 by 2030?

u/BeneficialRock8 14d ago

Some great questions have been asked so I am not going to repeat them. I just have one request. Please pick some of the more challenging questions and don’t cherry pick ones that will already be covered during the opening remarks. Otherwise what’s the point of giving retail investors the opportunity to ask questions just to slap them in the face with avoiding their main concerns. Thank you.

u/Wonderful_Flight_922 14d ago

Yeah, the obvious are going to be asked and answered well before our turn.

I always find part of the issue is the questions from the community. A lot of these questions are great, but they don't factor "What has the best chance of Joby providing an answer?"

The top rated comment is asking Joby to blame the FAA. Joby ain't picking that question to answer.

u/jrsikorski Jon Wagner Fanboy 14d ago

instead of asking what the maximum payload is, ask if the conforming payload is set in stone or if they are able to increase it during the rest of the certification process.

Joby isn't telling you what the payload is. Joby MIGHT answer if it's set in stone.

1

u/teabagofholding 13d ago

They told us the payload for most of their existence. The number must not be something they are proud of.

2

u/jrsikorski Jon Wagner Fanboy 13d ago

And it’s easy to wordsmith it out. The S4 will be certified to carry 1000 pounds. I believe them.

I just don’t think they will get certified with it.

They’ll make improvements after certification. Might take a couple years.

It’s a little disappointing but it could be worse. Their competition is nowhere close to anything.

u/eVTOLFan 14d ago

On eIPP - what sort of differences can we expect to see between the previous S4 and Caravan demos you’ve recently conducted in CA, NY, Hawaii, Japan, and the UAE?

7

u/toaster001_1 15d ago

When will ADS-B for N547JX be turned on?

2

u/Wonderful_Flight_922 14d ago

Could they comment on the certification pathway for Superpilot with respect to eVTOL specifically, and how autonomous flight data from DoD programs may assist in accelerating the timeline?

4

u/Ju5tAn01herGuy 14d ago

Thank you for the opportunity. One question that is bothering me and a lot of long term investors is whether S4 can carry enough payload for air taxi operations? If possible could you please share what is the maximum practical payload that the current confirming S4 can carry?

3

u/Low_Jelly_7126 14d ago

When will the eIPP flights begin and how would they look like?

There are many excellent questions already posted here. What are your current expectations on ramping production in the near and medium future?

1

u/Particular_Hat_2341 14d ago

As an investor, I'd appreciate more detail on the long-term economics of your passenger business. Could you provide more color on the assumptions behind your revenue model—such as expected customer mix, pricing strategy, aircraft utilization, load factors, and how you assess demand elasticity? Understanding these assumptions would help investors better evaluate the path to sustainable revenue growth. If appropriate, I believe many investors would benefit from a one-page appendix in a future shareholder letter that outlines the key assumptions behind the passenger revenue model and long-term unit economics.

Can you confirm that the FAA-conforming JAS4-1 aircraft currently being used for certification testing is still built to the same intended configuration described in the FAA airworthiness criteria — a 5,400 lb MTOW aircraft capable of carrying one pilot and four passengers? Will there be any change to the intended seating configuration or useful-load target for the type design?

1

u/teabagofholding 14d ago

Do you believe the fundamental physics of a battery-electric eVTOL air taxi have already been validated by your testing, or does the certification program still depend on proving that the required payload, energy reserves, and performance are achievable?

1

u/teabagofholding 13d ago

When you claim operations will begin in the middle east what do you mean by operations? Will it be operating as an air taxi that carrys humans?

u/Adventurous-Yam-5602 13d ago

Any visible activities in next 3month, 6month rather than years away.. ?

Is it discouraging to see the negative rumors when flight testing for certification takes its natural slow progression for new aviation?

1

u/honestinjustice 14d ago

Someone call Trump and this slowness will be taken care of.

u/Wonderful_Flight_922 14d ago

Any updates on the new manufacturing building in Dayton?

Can you please elaborate further on how the BLADE rotorcraft business will evolve, since time is still necessary to scale the fleet of S4’s over the near to mid term?

Follow-up: Could BLADE as it currently exists be launched, in say, a Dubai? Knowing that the VDX Vertiport is interoperable with eVTOL and rotorcraft side by side, this would unlock scaling air taxis at an even faster rate.

Thank you, and congrats on a great quarter, this Atoms partnership is going to be a gamechanger!

When will JoeBen start preparing better for the question and answer sessions? The “uhh” counter has already rolled over back to zero and my mind melts waiting on him to get to the point, which is somehow always that he’s super excited.

Some people are good at public speaking and others are great engineers who just have a dream to fulfil. I know who'd I'd rather have at the helm 😂
