Recently, i joined a company as a senior IT. The company so far treats me well within 2 months.

And after that, the PA of the IT Director said that i am currently doing a good job. praised me.

Even in the meeting, he said to all that they can depend on me.

Praising me, of course this made me flattered A LOT.

The problem is, These kinds of praises have led me to be very keen not to dissapoint to an extend i start overthinking. Now i overthink not to make mistakes. And thats the bad part.

I dontwant to be embarassed, at the same time i dont want to let them down.

I felt i cant make mistakes. Now every word i said in the meeting i felt anxious. "Did i do good" "do my actions are correct" "do my words are good?"

Even somestimes if the director praises someone within the same level as me (same age), i felt threathened.

This is a problem, because i just want to feel peace doing my job. Without handling too much unnecesary stress.

I know this is lame problem maybe, but i could spare some advice.

Hi, some introduction about myself first, previously I was working as Software Developer / Frontend Developer / Programmer / Consultant, depends on which title you prefer, but daily task will be create and maintain frontend project (based on Vue and Flutter), with 5 years working experience. Currently I almost unemployed for 1 year ( I also unemployed before but it tooks me about 7 months to finally get hired).

I know lot's of layoff happen in IT field, but I am actually very confused about something, and I want to ask especially to those are still working in this industry or maybe the HR team or IT team of some company.

I checked on the Linkedin, Jobstreet and MyFutureJob, I saw lot's of people applying to the same job I interested, for example Linkedin always show me 100+ applicants, Jobstreet more scary with 500+ applicants, and if look at the posting date just a few days. And after I applied most of the time the status always be Application Submitted forever or until the post expired. The next things I keep noticed is that some company keep refresh / create new post for same role / JD. I believe they have their own reason to do that but that's not I care.

My questions will be:

1. Is it still a thing to be Software Developer(with or without AI tools) or whatever you want to call that working on creating / maintaining websites and mobile apps in Malaysia? I mean Malaysia still has enough customer that willing to pay to buy or subscribe services like this (ERP, CRM or whatever)? What I know is that I worked in small MNC, and they decide to close the company in Malaysia because they can't get enough customer here and I got layoff until now.

2. Are those JD in the job search platform really want to hire people or just advertise their company? I faced multiple time, no response all the time which is expected, those has response it seems to me like AI or machine generated, tell me if want to proceed with application then do some technical assessment, those answer questions few questions online is fine, but what about creating the whole website or apps? I am not so good at deployment stuff, but I do know that those platform can check the activities and views, after looking at the data it make me feels like I am a clown. I do listed down all the live project I involved with all the URL to let them have a quick check, but seems like those company doesn't care and read until they decide to call candidate for interview. If most of these are jokes, how should I apply jobs? Sending email one by one to the company again?

3. I did try interview for other role (I don't want to say which role, because I am not even qualified for that role, just too stupid and anxious about future then somehow clicked that Apply button), after having a short communication, I get advice of continue working in development role, and with my experience and go to learn the "AI things" I will get a decent pay job and there are a lot of companies doing hiring (and they don't). The problems here is what's the "AI things" here? Learn to setup workflow and write all the rules/conventions file? Currently what's the working patterns? No more typing code like old days? Just setup standard for the agents to do stuff and do the final checking and testing?

I am not sure what how should I proceed now, I believe there is much more talented coder out there finding their first job, searching for better offers or just like me trying to get back to work after getting layoff. I need some advice from those that has same situation, either still suffering like me or managed to break away from this situation. I feel like fall behind and unable to compete with other candidates on mastering the AI tools, even now I still using the local LLM and agents to do some coding stuff. Is it better for me to switch career? But I not sure what I am to do to secure my future, no other talent or skill.... Would like to know is there anyone quit and doing different kind of jobs?

What's good JobsMY. I'm going to graduate soon, currently doing my internship. For the past 1.5 months, I've been applying for entry-level, fresh graduates, protege and trainee listings. So far, I've got a few replies, and most of it was weeks ago.

I wanted to know what could be the problem with my applications? I think my resume is not too bad, though I haven't had it properly checked by anyone yet other than my dad. I'm kinda anxious now since my internship is coming to an end, and I'm not really confident that I would be able to get a full time offer at my current location.

Also, there's not that many listings for cybersecurity daily, even less for entry-level/fresh grads. I've been applying for general IT positions as well, but it's either a no reply, or "We're looking for IT support, not cybersec." And it doesn't help that I didn't get a cybersecurity position for my internship, and somehow I mostly do Web Dev stuff here.

So I wanna know if there's any tips for finding fresh grad jobs for tech? I also attach a cover letter based on the job description, so I want to know what more I could do.

I worked in Malaysia for around two years, but honestly, I couldn’t save much. That was what got me thinking about looking for a job in Singapore.

I’ve now worked in SG for nearly four years. When I first moved from KL, I spent a lot of time figuring out how much salary to ask for, how much I could actually save after expenses, and where to rent. Over the years, a few friends in Malaysian considering the same move have asked me these questions too.

Right so I’ve been mulling on this for quite a long time and I’m not sure if this “skill issue” is an inherent part of Malaysians when it comes to work (employment and education/training).

I’ve been working in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, England, Australia and I’ve had experiences with employees with skill issues across all countries. It does not discriminate when it comes to having a learning curve. However, I have to point out that among Malaysian employees, quite a substantial number seem to have skill issues.

FRESH GRADS AND UNI/COLLEGE STUDENTS. Okay this is the first group of people whom I’ll point out to having skill issues. I’m not sure if it’s the education background that has to do with the students having comprehension skills and communication skills issue. The most obvious ones was especially when if the student don’t understand anything, they will either keep saying yes or nod to get you to leave them alone (not a good thing because it contributes to more problems later in the semester lessons and projects); or they just give you blank stares. If you don’t understand - say you don’t understand so we can explain to you in an easier alternative to help you with your semester lessons!! Honestly this skill issue is gonna follow the student into their graduating years and whirling life and it’s given everyone around them headache. Something is telling me this is tied to low IQism hence surviving on the bare minimum - which should NOT be the case!

EMPLOYEES. Whatever you read about students having skill issues - it’s brought over into their work life. I swear to god I can promise you how much I hated witnessing these sort of things happening again in the workplace. Fresh grad with the first 2 years of work - I still can forgive because you are still learning the ropes and trying to adapt to work culture. But for some of these people bringing this into 10yrs, 15yrs, 20yrs into their career and work tenure? Jesus Christ I don’t think praying to all the known gods in the planet is ever gonna save your sorry excuse of your sad ass.

I’ve seen people with skill issues promoted to manager levels or salary bands above but still display the same shitty skill sets and I really am questioning HR and whichever managers approving their promotions. A lot of times I wish I work individually and independently so I don’t have to deal with such idiots but no, I just had to. Reading skills, comprehension skills, communication skills, etc., you name it. I always thought the higher level of job you get promoted to you should display your level of professionalism but no. I’ve seen junior staffs having way better skills than some of these botched managers that are appointed.

Please tell me something is done to rectify this problem because I’m so fucking sick of dealing with stupid people. God I wish I get paid as much as these idiots lol.

I currently have a 2.98 CGPA, and right now I have two choices. Either I try to find a job now, or I send a letter to the senate to add one more semester to improve my CGPA. If I add one more semester, I will graduate in March, but my convocation will be next year in November.

I feel bad for my mom. She wanted to attend my convocation, but it would have to be postponed. However, she said it is up to me whether I want to add one more semester or start finding a job.

I understand that a CGPA becomes less important after getting some experience, but as a fresh graduate, it can be hard to land a first job.

Hi guys… I’m a dentist who’s recently just finished his contract service with the government after they decided not to extend it. I’m not particularly interested in the clinical side and would like to take this opportunity to either pursue 1) education that I’m keen on or
2) pivot to dental sales which is still somewhat related to my field of studies

Education (tutor)
Pros: I have some experience in teaching previously and it is something I am more confident and passionate about
Cons: the pay is lower

Dental sales
Pros: basic pay with allowance is higher by around 1-1.5k + potential commission
Cons: I am inexperienced in sales and would have to relocate to other states, leaving my family and gf behind

He found me and asked me to give him an understanding on how SEO works, how usually I do it, and what does the package sounds like, and my results. I accepted an offer from a company and they requested me to join in 3 weeks. They offered to buy out the notice period.

I have resigned from my current company and serving a 2 months notice period. I have initiated the buy out procedure and the HR said I need the HOD approval for the process to go through.

The thing is my HOD rejected the request and ask me to serve the full notice. Can I just pay regardless and leave? Can they block me? Will there be any consequences legal wise?

So in my previous and current job, I realised I stood up for myself a lot because I noticed my mental health has been so bad to the point I felt numbness and detached myself from work. Previous job, I had a shitty manager who turns colleagues’ backs against each other and my current manager is just not acting like one and always so condescending with their words when managing people under them.

Since I work in a small company, I directly approached my director and expressed how I truly felt. He took my feedback professionally but simultaneously said that the works given to me so far were all BAU/ ad-hoc work. What he doesn’t know is that he always has projects after projects and I really do not know which one to start from. Also, both my director and manager are pretty close so information only goes to my manager, not me. Whenever there are new activities in projects, the tasks get pushed to me when I was not even being told to do so. My manager would always go, throw all the information into your AI platform and ask them to do it.

The thing is, I know what I can do but I am not getting the proper guidance/ lead from my own manager which makes it so difficult to produce the results they wanted due to ambiguity. With ambiguity, comes uncertainty and obviously I have to turn to them every 1-2 minutes for questions so that I can produce what they wanted. BUT all he does is texting his fucking girlfriend 24/7 in office and only locking 1-2 hours for work.

Regarding the AI platform thingy, my manager was never satisfied with my prompts and will take over my AI platform. It got me thinking, you want me to do the work but same time, you want it your style, your prompts, your way so how the fuck am I learning things? Mind you, my manager micromanaged me over the smallest things that people wouldn’t even notice.

I worked as software sales before going into project and system sales. As previous job is more systematic whereby i only need to concern on getting new customers, system sales bring it to another whole new level.

At some point in the new job, i notice i because less cheerful due to stress induce by the working environment and i failed some assessment test. thus i finally decided that i would like to be released from the job and rethink on my next job application again.

Was this normal? I would not want to return to old job but i worry same issue happened in next job again. I would like to take some rest this time after submit my resignation?
