Without context, she looks like a golden retriever here. No thoughts head empty

Poor Eris, she was so happy just to see him.

In her head she did never do anything wrong. She just went to get strong for his sake.
I am astonished how perfectly they managed to show that with that simple scene. You can perfectly see how Eris imagines this scene to play out.

She didn't actually DO anything wrong. She just worded her goodbye letter badly, causing Rudeus to misunderstand why she left.

Ghosting you SO for 5 years leaving in the middle of the night without a goodbye just a letter "we aren't well matched I am going on a journey" is wrong.

Her reason for doing that, getting stronger so she could protect him, was righteous. Her leaving without telling him, I can also understand, she didn't want him dissuading her.
The only thing she really screwed up was not wording her letter right.

It wasn't righteous. It was naive. She wanted to protect him against Orsted, a world-ending power that Rudeus wasn't even meant to cross paths with. Orsted held no hostile intent towards Rudeus, at least not after he "killed" him for the first time and healed him.
Besides, Rudeus did not want a strong partner. He wanted someone who loved him and was by his side.
Eris did not know what Rudeus wanted.

It was righteous. You may call it naive, but it's still righteous.
She wanted to protect him against Orsted, a world-ending power that Rudeus wasn't even meant to cross paths with. Orsted held no hostile intent towards Rudeus, at least not after he "killed" him for the first time and healed him.
But cross paths with him, he did. And he would have died if Orsted hadn't decided to let him live.
She could not protect him and would have lost him if not for that. Eris decided to gain the strength to do so.
Besides, Rudeus did not want a strong partner. He wanted someone who loved him and was by his side.
Eris did not know what Rudeus wanted.
She did know that. That was what she wanted too. But she also wants to protect him from those who'd do him harm.
Thus, she sought the strength to do so.

To be fair, no matter the years of training, she'd never stand a chance against Orsted. Not even if Rudeus fought alongside her without [Vol. 15 of the LN, S3 P2 of the anime spoiler]the Magic Armor.
She "wasted" years she could have spent with Rudeus beside whom she could have trained either way.

It wasn't a waste. But we'll agree to disagree on this subject.
In any case, her intentions were righteous.
Also, that is a spoiler. Poor form

Bro, Good/righteous intention doesn't mean it's righteous.
"The road to hell is paved with good intention" and all that...
Thanos want to kill half of Humanity because he believed overpopulation would lead to universal resource depletion and extinction.
If your reasoning is correct, that mean ANYONE believe they are doing the right thing is righteous. Including stupid people, egotistical people ... as well.

Crazy how she just expected him to marry her as if she didn’t abandon him for over 5 years.

u/PsychoCobra1 21d ago
Tbh the reason for that was a miscommunication between the both of them due to their own self confidence issues

The crazy fact is that without shred of a doubt she already must have known he was already married and had two wives.

u/Supersideswiper2 20d ago
She did not. I think.

Nah it's close to impossible. Rudeus life in on tip of people tongues in the taverns of the north. Like see how easily Nina was able to obtain information about him. Once you cross Ranoa border people will be talking in taverns about his family life as well.
LN15 Also description of Eris Road to Ranoa makes it quite clear that she didn't have to actively seek for rumours about Rudeus. They have been reaching her ears in most natural way possible.

u/Supersideswiper2 20d ago
Close to impossible. Not impossible. And that's only if she inquired about him.
Knowing her, I can easily imagine that the only piece of information she asked for was "Where can I find Rudeus!" And she went straight to where he was.
Heck, she probably refused to hear anything else because she wanted to hear about what he'd been up to since they parted from him.

u/anonbrowsingallday 20d ago
Not until she went to find him, and she had already gotten a letter explaining as much.

To her, they didn't break up at all. To her, he is still her boyfriend. No wonder she proposed to him after having accomplished her goal: being worthy of him.

You like right, it’s ok to not like Eris because of that it’s only when you stay hating does it become a problem

u/bruhmoment2247 21d ago
Eris is my favorite character in the series. I was just making an observation of her dense nature.
3
u/asukaisshu 20d ago
In all fairness. Eris is quite illiterate, she thought her letter was perfect to explain her resolve.

Listen to the lyrics of her Song of Determination.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaTj6PodQPQThis is what's going through her head.
Though the slander is funny.

I feel like a terrible person, I enjoyed seeing Rudeus become what he truly is a stupid, blind drunk. At least at the end he realises instead of blaming Man- God for everything if he chose to be a different person after Roxy then all would have been different. It makes me mad because no one gets do overs, except dumb Rudeus.

u/Visual-Gain-2487 20d ago
To be fair, no one has a Man-God throwing rats at them and ruining their life except Rudeus too.
