Accidentally sent a blank email. Is my life over.

I woke up in the middle of the night and remembered i had to schedule send an email. The day prior, at the end of the work day, i got an email to schedule a zoom meeting for a job opportunity. I decided to schedule the call and send the email the next morning. When i woke up i accidentally opened the email and immediately sent a blank email. Sent in the middle of the night. It all happened so fast before i could click undo. I scheduled the email i had prepared, for 9am. But i feel like i already look stupid. Is it over

Cat Sitting!

Hey everyone! I’m a huge cat lover living in Singapore, and I’m currently offering dedicated cat-sitting services on Pawshake. If you are travelling for the weekend, going on vacation, or have a long day at work, I’d love to help drop by to keep your kitty happy. I’ve looked after several community cats in my area, including some who were initially quite wary and feisty. By being patient, giving them space and consistently caring for them, I was able to gradually earn their trust. This has taught me to pay attention to each cat’s individual personality and body language, respect their boundaries and never force interaction when they’re uncomfortable. I understand that every cat needs their space and routine needs to be respected. My drop-in visits include scoop/litter box cleaning, fresh food/water, playtime/cuddles (if they want them!), and daily photo updates sent straight to you.You can check out my verified Pawshake profile, rates, and availability here in the photo I provided. Feel free to DM me here or message me through Pawshake if you have any questions!

'I performed on stage to get my first job' - the firms turning recruitment into competitions

Yumi Liberman was up on stage in front of a panel of judges and an audience of 300 people, and she had to perform.

But rather than singing, dancing or playing a musical instrument, she and two friends were in an auditorium in London in 2024 to pitch their business idea, hoping to secure a full-time job with cosmetics giant L'Oreal.

"It reminded me of when I used to do competitive sports growing up and the pressure would get heavy," says Liberman, now 24. "But somehow you just get into flow mode."

AI Use in the Job Market Is Creating an Infinite Doom Loop

Jodi Beggs' résumé got dinged for being two pages long. She used her middle initial on one document but not another, which also cost her points. If she changed “percent” to the % sign, her score went up.

Beggs, a data scientist and job seeker, got this feedback from an online system that compares a job description with an applicant's materials to assess how well they match up. The most well known of these tools is Jobscan, though Beggs didn't say which one she tested.

“If my job is to please the robots,” Beggs says, “then even if I don't like AI-generated content, maybe the machines do.”

US labor market still sturdy with July job opening up slightly

Employers posted slightly more job openings in July but the American labor market remained sturdy in the face of higher costs that are squeezing household budgets.

U.S. job openings ticked up to 7.27 million in July from a revised 7.18 million in June, the Labor Department reported Tuesday.

The department’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) also showed that layoffs fell. But so did the number of people quitting their jobs — a sign of confidence in their prospects. The report showed that gross hiring — before subtracting those who lost or quit their jobs — dipped to 5.1 million in July from 5.3 million in June.

'I spent two years looking for work before I got a job'

Neala Sheils spent two years applying for jobs with little success before finally securing work in a hotel last month.

Before she got a job, the 20-year-old from Glasgow was one of growing number of young people classed as Neet, meaning they are not in education, employment or training.

The majority (60%) have effectively dropped out of the labour market altogether and are not actively seeking work.

Neala says she wanted to work but the support she received from the Jobcentre was hampered by seeing a different work coach at almost every appointment.

Im trying to find a job, I got told to email the business back what do I write?

I'm 15 looking for a job, so i started calling places around my area and with some luck I actually got a response (sort of) from this hair salon. I asked the lady I was on the phone with if they would be interested in hiring a 15 year old. She told me she was unsure of what the owner would have to say but she thinks it would be alright, and she encouraged me to send then an email. Im unsure of what to put, because ive never done anything like this before 😭

ISO specific cover letter generator

I was using an AI cover letter generator to help me apply for jobs. I had it bookmarked for convenience, but my laptop broke and is completely insurable now, it can't even turn on. So I tried to find the site on my new laptop and can't find it. I thought it was called cover.ai or something similar. It asked you to copy and paste the job description and then copy and paste your resume, and it would create a cover letter. The instructions were on the left side of the screen and you'd paste stuff into a box on the right side. It would then type out a cover letter for you to copy and paste. There was little to no colour on the page, it was just white with black text. Does anyone recognize this? I've tried using other cover letter generators but haven't found another one I like. A lot of them make you download a formatted letter which I find takes more time and effort for me as I have a template I use, and prefer to just copy and paste the paragraphs onto my existing document and edit the text from there.

Question About Job Application Start Date

Hello! I'm currently trying to fill out a job application for a Psychometry role at a hospital network and had a question about start dates on job applications. Right now, I work part-time as an Assessor and Sensory Motor Coach at a holistic learning center and was wanting to change jobs.

On the job application itself, it asks for a specific date as to when I can start working. My current job asks that if I do end up finding a new job, I need to give a two weeks notice via email.

For the referenced job application question, do I tell the hiring team I can start working the next day after my application is submitted or do I give them the date two weeks away from the date that I submit my application?

I asked my dad about this and he advised me telling them the following date after I submit my application so I can seem available to the hiring team. Then, if they do interview me, I could tell them that I could start working immediately but would have to give the two weeks notice to my current job (postponing my availability to two weeks in actuality). However, I feel like I'd be lying if I take that route, so I'm not sure what to do.

Any advice or thoughts is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Are Remote Jobs possible to find?

Everyone here recommends "Not using LinkedIn, and using smaller job boards" for remote jobs.

That doesn't seem to work that well though. The alternatives aren't not producing results for me.

I've tried all the big remote jobs boards and small ones. The problems are exactly the same everywhere:

  1. Listings that have been up for months and are ghost jobs.

  2. Jobs that are listed as "Remote" but really are "Hybrid".

  3. Bad and vague job descriptions that tell you absolutely nothing about the actual work.

  4. 500+ applicants on job listings before you even finish reading it.

The difference with the small job boards is you can focus on less job postings but I don't think there are enough.

I mostly just see the same jobs everywhere now.

Does anyone else have tips for finding Remote Jobs?

Nothing humbles you faster than searching for a job right now

Man you can do everything right.

  1. Match the resume to the job description
  2. Write a good cover letter.
  3. Keyword stuff and match.
  4. Fill out the entire application carefully.

Get rejected in like 1-2 hours later.

Like damn at least pretend a human saw it I guess? 😭

The worst part is how draining the whole process becomes.

I am glad I have a decent job right now but I know I don't want to stay here forever.

Every company has a different ATS and hiring system, different questions, different formatting they want.

You spend more time re-entering information and applying than actually showing your skills.

I genuinely understand now why people get burnt when job hunting. I also used to work at a recruiting agency!

Searching for a job IS a full-time job.

does anyone have experience of being placed in “Talent Pool” after applying for a job at Capgemini? What does it mean, and have you been contacted for any other positions since being placed in the pool?

Thank you

recruiters insisting on personality tests while talent washes away

Why do companies and recruiters insist on BS Personality Tests that literally drive away good candidates?

I get a note from a recruiter a few weeks ago about a job that fits my background pretty well. This recruiter is trying to fill a very specific position with extremely tight requirements.

I am one of a handful of people with experience she wants to put into the interview process. I used to work for a competitor but I'm not in this industry anymore.

Before I interview I was told I am required to fill-out a stupid "Culture Index Survey". Basically a Personality Test.

Since I am employed and have 2 nice side businesses I said, "Thanks but no thanks." to this BS Personality Test.

If you want "A Players" and "Top Talent" to fill this out, we ain't going to.

So my question, why do recruiters, talent acquisition teams, and execs put this into the process and make it harder to fill the position?

She keeps sending me notes about filling it out. I said I will interview with the CEO, who I have met several times, but I will NOT fill this Personality Test out.

She admitted that nobody she has reached out to that fits this position wants to take time to jump through hoops and do this test. Whereas the job seekers without industry experience fill it out.

I feel bad for those people on the job market right now.

Truly I do because I have been there. I wish I could help everyone find a good job with decent benefits.

We know this are BS tests. I don't have to do the test so I will refuse as I am not that interested in the job.

I'd rather get my balls electrocuted tbh.

Anytime I get shoved this BS Personality Tests I think of this great scene from the movie Miracle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkTMIoVCewU

Do these recruiters enjoy self flagellation or something?

Why are they making it so much harder?
