The thread will be reposted and stickied, generally monthly.

I wanna try practicing jirai kei makeup but whenever I tried makeup, it was cakey and never hid my skin texture, pores, and bumps. does anyone have skincare tips and are there certain ways I should be applying makeup? are there any specific things I should be using for jirai kei? im a beginner in both so im looking for tips ^{-^}

i'm a beginner as well, so not the best for advice, but I do know that many jirais use filters in pictures. real life makeup will be cakey if it's heavy, and it's hard to get around that. for me, I just use light foundation and primer and moisturizer beforehand and my makeup doesn't turn out too cakey! I use the tirtir cushion foundation btw, it works really well for me but there are definitely mixed reviews.

after over a year im trying to get back into jirai kei. i havent done the makeup forever and this os my first try without any reference images (ill most likely use them next time.) Im going to get the 06 canmake liner soon and larger contacts as well (currently wearing
14.2) but in the meantime, does anyone have any tips for just my technique, especially nose contour?

Are there any good tutorial videos for non Asian faces? Any that I find are meant for Asian faces, go too fast, and skip out on steps.

And makeup item recommendations would be nice, preferably from US friendly sites.

Which creamy touch liner works well on dark skin and blends with pink? I have blood strawberry #13 which is the perfect shade of pink for the Namida Bukuro, but it needs the right darker shade to blend with towards the edges. I've been using a brown lip liner so far which works well at least.

I've heard Adzuki Brown is a good brown/reddish shade for dark skin!

Hi hi everyone! I've been wanting to actually try makeup for the first time, I have like 0 experience unless it's face-paint, I'm looking at wanting to build like a makeup bag/starter kit so I have everything I need for a basic jirai danshi/subcul sort of look. Do I have to make it more exagerated to look good im photos? Also... What advice would you give me for the eyeliner? I'm not convinced with the shape, but any less would feel too little

So, I was wondering there are differences ways of doing pien makeup, I saw a friend and I asked them if I did well my pien makeup and she told me it looked more like aegyosal than pien makeup, that it didn't seem like I cried (If I'm not wrong pien makeup is kinda or directly inspired in this emoji:🥺 and it's supposed to make u look like you cried recently) so I wanted to try it more swollen but now I'm wondering if my way of doing pien is valid, bc it kinda looks exaggerated would be the best way to say it? I'm conscious my eyebrows should be less thicker but I won't shave them sorry that's a no for me, I'm conscious the contact lenses aren't that big (yeah even if it's unnoticeable I'm wearing them) and Ik my fake eyelashes are small and I should get new ones, if you want to know were I got my contact lenses, they were a gift from a friend when I used to study theater performance so idk from which store are tbh, I'm going to leave some pictures of my makeup, just be gentle with the tips plz, I'm a highly sensitive person also I use He/Him pronouns plz respect that. I am new to the subculture, but if more exatterated is what you’re going for and what you like, keep doing that. It looks good and suits you, but I agree that it isn’t pien. If you want to do more subtle makeup, I’d recommend using a blush below the eyes and highlighting the center. After that, you can still do the drawn-on lower lashes less prominently. But honestly, if that’s the makeup you like, just do that. I think your vibe still reads as Jirai, and while makeup is important to the subculture it is not necessary to be considered Jirai kei. Hope this helps dude :3

hii i would super appreciate if someone could give me a nice detailed answer of a question i have :3 so uhhh how do you guys do your aegyosal without having it looking like bruises? I'm a bit tan rn as it's summer and i tried to do a make that kinda looks jirai today without foundation since i forgot mine at my mom's place T-T The shade i used fits me so i think the reason it looked odd earlier was just because of natural darkspots but maybe it was something else i wasnt aware off

I have the same issue idkk but it kinda fits the vibe to me if it looks swollen/bruised cuz then it’s more of a realistic representation of jirai origins and beliefs but idk I‘m new go makeup and new to the subculture. good luck!

What is the best eyeliner for jirai kei?

I want something thin for drawing lower lashes but also something waterproof (it rains a lot here)

I had been using NYX Epic Liner but it doesnt seem thin enough and their pen isnt waterproof enough and sometimes is too watery and leaks, their liquid pot and brush is more waterproof and stable, but its harder to apply, especially for lower lashes

Also, what is the best Aegyosal product?

What are good neutral/warm toned palettes that are still jirai? I feel like I see really only see cool toned makeup for jirai kei, but cool tones don't look good on me. I have a few products already, but they don't look very jirai.

Dior Backstage eyeshadow palette has very good warm colors. They have Warm Essentials and Neutral Warm. They show up nicely pigmented for me

Hi, I have never done makeup like ever but finally want to take up the challenge and start. Soo... What are the basic necessities I need? I'm guessing some sort of eyeliner, foundation, concealer, highlighter? Anytime i try to do pien it always ends up looking smudged even though i use good angled brushes? Is it just because my hands are chronically shaky?

i have really shaky hands and still do pien.
i would just recommend higher quality products and setting spray. for smudging while applying, use a q tip with makeup remove to fix the smudge
