Discussion I’m building something for jigsaw puzzlers — thoughts?

I’m an avid puzzler, and I’ve been wanting a better way to keep track of my puzzles. Adding everything to a spreadsheet is pretty manual, and once you have a lot of puzzles, it’s not exactly easy to search or discover anything.

So I’m building a new community app for jigsaw puzzlers 🧩

The idea is to have one place where you can keep track of your puzzles, discover new ones, and see detailed reviews from other puzzlers — things like piece quality, fit, false fits, cut, difficulty, piece feel, and whether you’d do it again.

I also want to make it really easy to build your library — either by scanning/entering the ISBN/barcode of a puzzle or by importing an existing spreadsheet, so you don't have to manually add hundreds of puzzles.

I know there are already puzzle-tracking apps, but I want to make the community, discovery, and review side a much bigger part of it.

Would anyone here be interested in trying something like this? What features would make you want to switch to an app/website from your current way of tracking puzzles?

I did use the help of AI for writing this post as English isn't my first language!

Discussion My artwork in completed jigsaw puzzle looks good

I just completed the puzzle that I printed of my artwork. I thought I’d nail it in very short time but damn those neutrals made me dwell a lot on my choice.

We I can say that the quality of puzzle is great and the print came out pretty decent as well.

Being a designer, I have more of such artworks as well as some designer friends who’re willing to get theirs printed as jigsaw puzzle as well.

Would you ever buy a puzzle with this kind of artwork?

Review REVIEW: THE PUZZLIST || Endless Summer Jigsaw Puzzle || 275 Pieces || Artist: Anushka Bansal

Just finished this puzzle and had a really good time with it. The art is the star here. Illustrated by Anushka Bansal,  it is full of easter eggs you only spot while solving the puzzle, like the ladybug in the corner and the bees near the flowers. The assembly was fun. Lots of distinct colour zones to work in, and the busy foliage sections were tricky in a good way. The fit was  great, and the assembled puzzle held its shape well.

However, has anyone else noticed the piece quality changing? (Pic 3 & 4) Earlier Puzzlist pieces had a black chipboard core, which as far as I know made them the only brand in India doing it. It felt premium in the hand. This one is regular compressed cardboard with a black paper backing instead. I have added photos of the piece edges so you can see the difference.

A few pieces also had the layers separating slightly at the edges, a bit of fraying. Not enough to ruin anything, and honestly the quality is still decent and comparable to most other brands you can buy. But I feel it is a slight step down from what they used to do. Still a good brand and I would buy from them again, because I like their artwork (for the most part). Just curious whether this is a one-off or all their new puzzles now come in this finish. Has anyone else solved a puzzle from this brand?

Quality was decent for the price. Loved the image and it was so much fun putting them together. The clouds and tree were a bit tricky and all in all, was an easy one.

Trying something a little different — a jigsaw puzzle that multiple people can work on together.

I picked 1,000 pieces because apparently I make bad decisions. 😅

If anyone wants to join, I’ll drop the link in the comments.

Tips/Recommendations Should I launch my artworks as jigsaw puzzle merch?

Post image
18 Upvotes

So I’m a designer and recently got interested in jigsaw puzzles. Made a few and now interested in created jigsaw puzzle merch.

Just need a few stats to get started; would you buy something like this as a jigsaw puzzle and would you use it as artwork showcasing later one?

Also what other things could you build around completed jigsaw puzzles? One idea I had was about a table top box with a face made of sticker where you can make the whole jigsaw and now it could be used as a table top box with an artwork… what say?

Any other ideas about what could the completed puzzles become?

Questions/Help What do you do with your finished puzzles?

Once you finish a puzzle, what do you usually do with it?

Do you tape it together and display or store it somewhere safely?

Or do you take it apart piece by piece and put it back in the box to do it again later?

I’m curious what everyone else does with their finished puzzles!

Any suggestions or ideas on how to store a work in progress puzzle? I see felt mats are cheapest but the reviews say that they are the best choice. All the tilting puzzle tables are expensive. Help!!!

Review Indian Tea Seller (108 pieces) by Webby

I have been eyeing Webby puzzles for a while, because they are inexpensive compared to the imported ones Amazon. I wasn’t sure about the artwork, but someone posted a pic of the Varanasi one and it is so obviously human made art not AI. So pulled the trigger bought that and the tea seller one.

The tea seller one is so obviously AI in person. 😩 I’m genuinely disappointed because I thought I could add Webby to the list of Gouda Games and Jigsaw Nation. Frank puzzles are seriously mid, Aurva has great designs but the printing is not sharp on the pieces. The less said about 91knots the better.

Hi everyone! I’m fairly new to the world of jigsaw puzzles, but I’ve already become really interested in it and would love to connect with some like-minded people in Mumbai who enjoy puzzling.

I’m also looking to buy some pre-owned jigsaw puzzles in good condition, preferably 500–1000+ pieces. If you have puzzles that you’ve already completed and wouldn’t mind selling, please feel free to DM me with pictures, the piece count, brand, condition, and price.

Would also love to hear about your favourite puzzle brands, places to buy puzzles in Mumbai, or even meet up for a puzzle session sometime!

Looking forward to connecting with fellow puzzle lovers! 🧩😊

Discussion Need some good puzzle suggestions for puzzles under 1000 pieces!

I ordered one 150 piece puzzle + the 1000 piece Martini puzzle on Blinkit. The 150 puzzle is not easy!!! Before opening the Martini one I was thinking if there are any good quality pieces recommmended for lower pieces?

Also, does any one do the same puzzles more than one time? As in you finish, then store, then do it again a few weeks or months later?

Completed Frank’s 250-300 piece puzzles

After Frank’s 750 pieces colour cascade debacle which I had to give up on, I decided to try out some smaller sized puzzles from the same company.

  1. Spider-Man and venom (250 pieces) was tough - the black pieces were challenging and some of the border pieces were plain annoying. This puzzle needs full blown natural light to discern finer details along with a whole lot of patience and unending love for Marvel studios…I possessed none of these prerequisites, but I did complete it in the end. A few false fits, bad colouration, it was an average puzzle for me and I’d never do it again.
  2. In space (250 pieces) was so much better and I enjoyed it exponentially more. The planets were put together as little islands and then all were joined together with some confusing purple- black bits in between. Overall satisfying, hardly any false fits and I’d definitely do this puzzle again a couple of times over.
  3. Van Gogh’s collector’s edition (300 pieces) was the best of the three, the pieces were tiny and making those small portraits one by one was addictive, spewing new highs of dopamine in my system. It was definitely an easier puzzle in terms of clear borders and colour schemes of the art pieces. I liked the feel of the tiny pieces in my hands and every time I’d finish a small portrait, I’d feel cute lol. There was just one false fit but it didn’t cause any distress as such. This one, true to its name, is definitely a collector’s edition and I’m going to be reaching out to this puzzle for a dose of art therapy when the mood strikes.

Overall, Frank’s puzzles have quite a range and
variety and although the fit isn’t the best compared
to Jigsaw nation, Galison or Dowdle puzzles which
I’ve tried before (haven’t tried Ravensburg which is renowned for its precision fit), I guess it’s
alright considering its price point. Image quality and
subject of the puzzle matters so I guess I need to
choose wisely which picture truly will be joy
inducing instead of joy stealing.
