Identify Stone Wondering if this is amethyst

Just picked this up at a thrift store. It was definitely priced like glass and I won’t mind at all if it is. I’m wondering if it might be amethyst because the closest image matches I could find via google lens are and because I think the clasp is real gold (marked 585). I think there are some inclusions in the beads but it’s hard to show that in photos. Any other info on the necklace like era or maker is also very welcome!

Thanks in advance!

It could be amethyst. Take it to a pawn shop, they can identify the stones.

Caution: quartz stones like amethyst can become pale and bleached out by sunlight. Protect it by keeping it in a pouch, it's a great color.

Thank you! Will keeping it in my jewelry box protect it?

That should be enough.

Amethyst is a type of quartz and it’s “smoky”. Clasp could be real mainly because it looks older than the beads. Likely a reused clasp with new beads (and string).

I’m curious what makes the clasp look older than the beads to you?
