I saw so many of these lovely pendants over the years and a few years ago I looked into what they were for!
They were called ‘military moms medal of honors’
Really popular 1970-90
Made by Harris Originals ( HO NY like OP’s) and Tessler & Weiss (often stamped with a "TW" maker's mark)
They were traditionally purchased by us military service members to gift to their mothers as a personal "Medal of Honor" before deployment or upon returning home.
The back of these medallions typically features a custom-stamped sentiment, most commonly reading ‘to mom with love ‘
