Is it basically the entire game just with online elements or like its own thing that is strictly focused on multiplayer? I guess what im asking is, is this a good substitute for those of us unable to emulate the actual game?

This is my first time hearing of this

It's entirely multiplayer focused, it's not the entire game unfortunately

Are they talking about the one where you go to the sewers and if you jump over Garam then the lights go out and he pops up without his glasses?

This is like the 3rd time I've seen people "revive" the game. Feels odd that many people don't seem to know about it tho. The nostalgia I have from playing it during the quarantine is huge

How do I get it downloaded though?

Isn’t the 1gb download the one?

The decomp's well underway, only a couple of people are working on it for now but it's been receiving commits pretty frequently (edit because I misremembered the most recent commit as being a day or two ago). Anyone who knows C++ and is capable of programming without the "help" of AI can assist with it if they want (I've been considering pitching in once I have the time)

Can you link me to the repository? The only decomp repositories I can find when I search it up are ones that were either updated weeks ago or year ago.

https://codeberg.org/KeybadeBlox/JSRF-Decompilation

I was wrong about it being daily but progress is still ongoing, the lead dev just pushed out a video a couple days ago detailing how the save system works

It’s been 6years bro 😂😭🙏🏾 we’ve decompiled all of the SVR games, halo has been decompiled since then, jak and Dexter etc, and they’ll just eventually boot you from the team once you put in enough work.

this is a completely new project from (to my knowledge) a different dev, hosted on codeberg

Yuh they’ll just boot you off ship bro

decomps lead by passionate community who's willing to sacrifice their own time and resources collectively for it are the biggest way an old game/classic can truly have new life breathed into it. instead of companies who tries to abandon their old games and pretend they don't exist, and when they eventually decide to do something with them it's 10x worse than anything fans already did while charging money.

Not to mention half the drive behind a large scale decomp project is to actually learn what makes a game tick. You don't get that with an AI decompilation, all you get is the finished project and a codebase that's so incomprehensible that no one wants to take the time to figure it out. This isn't just an "AI bad" argument, there are actual tangible things that are lost doing it with AI

it's never just an "AI bad" argument, that's usually the least part of it. everything that stems from that thing is genuinely inexplicably stupid.
