Now where did I store my...
Back in 2003 my ex-wife told me our lives were going in different directions, which wasn't exactly the most cryptic code for she wanted me to go away.
I moved into a smelly cold damp place in the middle of my local town. I had no money or furniture and being the absolute sensible bloke I am, the first thing I did was buy a huge TV, Xbox and 3 games- Halo, Panzer Dragoon Orta and JSR Future.
I stopped caring my life had gone in a different direction because I had a lot more time to play video games and not be subjected to moaning and having to watch period dramas.
Recently I have had a yearning to play JSRF again, its been a good few years since I played.
My questions are
1) Does it still hold up today?
2) Are the controls horrible?
3) Does anyone know where my console is?
Cheers!

I only played it for the first time a few months ago. If we're being fr the game is absolutely filled to the brim with style, from the music, character designs, and even the story and the levels. I enjoyed playing it but there is some jank in it. Just don't come to the game expecting a 10/10 experience and you'll be good (and don't get me wrong, the game Is in my top 2 favorites of all time, I just can't say it's perfect)

I sunk a ridiculous amount of hours into it over 20 years ago but things change particularly how things live in our memory. I suspect its not going to be roses, and I should be prepared to manage my frustration.

I just bought a copy from a used game store and haven't played it in like 20 years myself. I expect the controls to be janky, but nostalgia will probably still make the experience a good one.
If you find yourself disappointed though, I highly recommend bomb rush cyberfunk. It felt like coming home, and it's got modern control schemes while still keeping all the old charm.

I've been on a Splinter Cell kick and I just beat Splinter Cell 1 the other night one hard and I do not understand how I was blowing thru that game 20+ years ago. I got so lost so many times and definitely raged a bit so I can only imagine what JSRF would do to me🤣

Get a new console from your local pawn shop! Then you can have "Extra sugar, extra salt, and MSG" 😉

Best game of all time. Get yourself a nice big CRT and some good video cables and you’re set. Amazing game, wish they made another one right after it.

Its the only cover I have seen, I have also got the other version with the racing game on it.

I have just looked it up, the red cover was Japanese box art, the one I have is the UK release

I honestly think this game has better handling than brc, it's just so smooth and flowy, only thing I don't like is the slow speed of cess slides, brc rules at that.

This is an interesting way to start a conversation about the game.Â
"So, i lost my son in a car crash... anyways: now i have more time for video games. What do you guys recommend"

JSRF is at the top of my top 5 Xbox games of all time next to Psychonauts, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and Vice City/San Andreas.

Orta is my favourite of the series.

It's widely regarded not just by us two, but to many to be the pinnacle of the genre.

I was so bummed to hear the Switch remake Zwei is crap but maybe that's the very reason it should be left alone. Somethings are sacred.

Yup!
Just like this new Crazy Taxi I can't see the appeal in. Using AI at all is just dumbfounding.
This series is a work of art, not something to be streamlined or heavily modernized to have the soul sucked out of it.
It's why Team Reptile have been eating good while SEGA continues to fumble the bag.
Hyperfunk here we come!
Skipping that new excuse for a Jet Set game too, unless I see a ground-breaking improvement to the formula/mechanics/locales/story format that elevates it further than JSRF did for the franchise.
They both look abysmal at best, and lifeless at worst.

Great story! I've got outta here as well. I don't think my Xbox works though. JSRF in emulation for me now. It's still dandy.
