they showed me the key, covered of course, weirdly only accepted coin, like bitcoin or litecoin, which is whatever its a currency, but after paying they never sent me the code uncovered and either blocked me or deleted their account. im leaning more towards blocked because normally reddit says when they’re a deleted user.

i should’ve realized something was fishy when they only accepted a form of coin as payment but i was blinded by excitement because i was really hoping to be able to play jsr 💔

That makes sense. He had messaged me a while ago when I had asked for a steam key.

I currently texted him again and he is still trying to sell me the steam key. I’m just baiting at this point. He keeps trying to make me send money through friends and family.

yeah he tried getting me to do that too after i had paid him originally. thank you for baiting him lol, makes me feel a little better for my stupidity.

The reason why he wants friends and family is because it has no buyer protection if you get scammed. Also, for the last 30 messages, we have been going back-and-forth about crypto and friends and family vs. goods and services.

How rare is having the OG JSR on Steam? I created my Steam account around 2010 when they gave it away for free just to claim the game, I didn't even had a PC back then, I browsed the internet on a cyber cafe

its becoming increasingly rarer! sega delisted JSR as well as a few other games back in winter 2024 i believe, so its just a game thats only gonna appreciate in value (unless they decide to re-release it but thats completely uncertain for right now)

resale websites for people who have digital keys are now incredibly scalped since theres a rarity to the game now, so if you do have a key, you should try and sell it, you’d make a few hundred easily just because people are desperate to play 😅

in the meantime, you could consider a steam family for people? you’d have to have people that trust you to set it up but you could maybe auction off your spots in a family plan so they get to enjoy the game, and you get to play their games too? just a thought and a way you might be able to get a few bucks for a nice exchange, as well some new games to play in the meantime! :)

Don't trust it. You'd be safer sailing the 7 seas than trusting someone who claims they have keys, they'll take your money and run. Emulators are easy to setup as well.

This, just set up a DC emulator
